Sam Williams Breakout Year?

Williams is just another second round that hasn’t worked out well. Missing the entire season in 2024 really set him back. My expectations for him remain low.

How are things going with Sam Williams? Obviously, he wasn't around last year after serving in limited roles since he was drafted. I had bigger expectations for Sam but it just hasn't been in the cards. So, what are your guesses for how things play out for Williams in 2025?

If we're to have any success as a team, Sam Williams needs to have a breakout season in 2025.

During the Quinn era, the knock on Sam was his inability to consistently play the run. So hoping he can develop his game there.
May take a full playing year for Sam from ACL recovery, to have a chance to regain his previous form.
The unfortunate ACL 2024 year took away a critical year of development from Sam.

- Besides health, Sam could use more discipline in his game. Both from a assignment and maturity level.
He tends to make dumb mistakes.. per roughing passer, and untimely special teams miscues.

- I believe at one point in 2023, Sam had 3 sacks in three consecutive games.
The physical ability and explosiveness is there. I'm not one for giving up on a guy of that kind of
speed/size ratio ( 260 pounds and 4.4 speed)

Since he was injured in camp, hopefully he's had enough time to get fully back. We haven't had much luck with guys coming off ACLs lately.

I think he'll be in the rotation but surpassed on running downs by Kneeland and Turner and on passing downs by Parsons and Fowler.

Being smart is 75% if the game. So far we’ve seen that with him. He’s an immature, and selfish guy, who’s not that smart.

He’s shown flashes of talent and immaturity. Hopefully he’s matured and is healthy. He gonna get reps so the ball is in his court

Yes. Breakout year for Sam. Osa too, where I'm projecting 5 sacks and slightly less awful run defense.

Seems to me the Cowboys place a lot of emphasis on measurables and as such, end up drafting athletes instead of football players…this dude is a bone-headed athlete.

I don’t know about breakout year but I’d be happy if he stayed healthy for 17 games and was a solid rotational player. We need depth and guys that can give Micah a breather for a down or two and not be a complete liability.

Last season was awful at DE with injuries. Our defense will improve if we have healthy bodies in there. Hopefully Sam meets that role.

He is a walking personal foul and a suspension waiting to happen. But, he can go get the QB if he is healthy. The good news is that he tore his ACL over the Summer and not during the season, so hopefully he is ready to go soon and 100% by week 1. I think the low discipline/accountability style of the triumvirate of Jerry, McCarthy and Quinn was the worst thing for him and he didn't get enough time under Zimmer to see if anything was going to change. Hopefully with a new group of coaches in town and a year off to look in the mirror and grow and post arrest and post accident in which he was driving 100 MPH we see a more mature Sam Williams. The talent to dominate as a nickel pass rusher is there if his head is in the right place and if he is focused on doing things the right way and doesn't lose control of his emotions and plays smart.

How can the guy who scheduled a victory party before the GB playoff game have a breakout year when he won’t play much since Shoddy is going to change the culture?

Injuries and had a run in with the law. Likely scenario. Randy Gregory 2.0

Best case solid rotational piece.

Hes the exact type of dude they invented franchise tags for.

I can see him balling out this season, commanding big money, then acting like a tool after being paid.

Of course I hope I'm wrong and he matures etc.

If he does he is gone we cant pay him thats why we want an end in this draft. I would draft green or walker. Not Willians.
