Sam Williams Breakout Year?

How are things going with Sam Williams? Obviously, he wasn't around last year after serving in limited roles since he was drafted. I had bigger expectations for Sam but it just hasn't been in the cards. So, what are your guesses for how things play out for Williams in 2025?

If we're to have any success as a team, Sam Williams needs to have a breakout season in 2025.

During the Quinn era, the knock on Sam was his inability to consistently play the run. So hoping he can develop his game there.
lack of focus and comitment....two years ago against GB, he was planning a victory party for freaking first round of playoff game!!!! like anybody cares...

this team in general lacks focus and commitment to winning. they are just a bunch of marketing specialist protecting their brand.

Sam showed us all what he is over and over. Did he somehow get smarter? I don't trust him. Like the skill set but can't stand the mistakes. Counting on him is a bad idea.

I think Sam can breakout because the talent is there and this is a contract year. If he was ever going to do it this would be the season.

Yes, the talent is there. He needs to get the mental part of it down better. As the entire team does. Maybe the new staff can instill that discipline they lacked for many years.

His Granddaddy Hank Williams, was an awesome country singer, not sure this dude is going to make much noise on the country radio stations...............LOL!

Has a good get off and lean.

He counters that by bone headed real time/situational football penalties on the d-line and special teams.

Some coaches would be okay with some of Williams's past gaffes as just being too aggressive and still support him fully. Other coaches would put him on a short leash and cross their fingers until the next mistake is made.

He's second in pure pass rush talent behind Micah on this team so Schotty is prolly gonna cross his fingers and keep hope in the guy.

With the money they gave Fowler, I don’t think there are any expectations for Sam.
Fair to question what % of DE snaps there will be for Williams to play. He’s a specific “speed rushing” DE in a 4-3 that is (at least on paper) behind both Micah and Fowler for that role.
Other than a small % of plays where they go with a “NASCAR” like package with all 3 of Micah, Fowler, and Williams on the field, it’s hard to see Williams playing a significant role…unless there’s an injury.

Takes at least a full year to be 100% after an ACL injury, would not count on him too much this year.

Sam has such an uphill climb to be productive this season, I count his contribution as house money this season. We'll see if Whitecotton has any magic.

Oops,
Third behind Micah and Fowler that is.
My bad.
Everything else remains true though, lol.

I can see why they'd be interested in myself williams. It would be pretty humbling for same for a rookie to come in and day 1 be a smarter/more mature player than a 4th year vet. Maybe it would motivate him to step up

It could be this guy's got tons of talent ,his first step in quickness is almost on par with Overshown and Parsons..

he's got that kind of speed and instinct that you can't teach,

the problem is he doesn't know when to pull back you know like he needs to understand when to let up and not hit the quarterback or the punter or the kicker on his blocks and whatnot but this guy is actually well worth the second round pick..

the problem is it wasn't just immaturity that people keep saying this he could figure it out I think more or less it could be the fact that he was on the field so little daddy got a bit too excited I don't know what it was but some good coaching him now another year coming back from an injury I mean I want to take it to instincts away and tell him hey you can't keep getting penalized or what not from getting offsides or the late hits but we see that from Parsons as well sometimes when you guys got get off and you're really trying to make an impact sometimes you have to take the good with the bad and I guess we've all compared him to Gregory and that might be a good comp but I don't think he's into the weed part of that or whatever else I think it's just a couple missteps for youth that easily can be overcome in my opinion..

That's not happening coming off ACL surgery.
Not everybody has the same setbacks and timetable you know some guys come back and they jump right in just depends on when it happened I mean of course if it happened late in a season a guy's gonna be late to come back I really but there are guys that literally step right back on the field and have good seasons without this alleged delay from the surgery... Every player is different their injury is different their timetables and rehab are different like their healing and all that is very different...

You do realize like Prescott had basically his ankle nearly snapped off everyone said it might be a career ending he was ready to go game one had one of his best seasons 37 touchdowns 10 interceptions played well and I get it's not an ACL.

but I've seen people do the same thing coming off an ACL injury now some of the really bad ones that came along with damage to other places in the knee at chip bone yeah multiple tendons those take longer but with the right training and attitude he may show 0 signs game one that he had an ACL surgery.. He got hurt in training camp last year so he had a full year of rehab already now in offseason to prepare properly his knees probably 100% right now it's almost one full year you can do a lot of stuff in six months after ACL surgery I know you can't get back to full go and full risk but after nine months you can but if you got more than 12 months before a full speed game and in this case he'll have about 14 months before game one I don't believe it'll hold him back at all...

I expect if Sam is fully healthy he will give you 8 sacks and 14 tackles for loss.He might even do better than that ,Sam might be a force in 25.
