Thought we had Armstrong signed through 2024, am I wrong here?

Gotta stop freaking out on draft day guys, let the dudes show us if they can play or not. Usually takes a few years but we are so impatient nowadays.

I for one am done being disappointed on draft day. I’m not a scout and can’t reasonably criticize a pick until I see them develop. Keep this in mind with Tolbert, as none of the 3rd round WR’s have shown much up to this point. This will not be the case for their whole careers.

Well in that vein let's not declare this draft a rousing success too early. Book is still out on most of these guys to include Tyler Smith.

They are 8 and 3 with major contributions from the rookies. They are clearly headed in the right direction.

Jermaine Johnson: 8 games played, 17 total tackles, 10 solo tackles, 5 assists, 2.5 sacks.

Sam Williams: 9 games played, 14 total tackles, 11 solo tackles, 2 assists, 3 sacks, 1 pass defensed, 1 forced fumble, 2 opposing fumble returns.

Looks like the Cowboys have been getting much more production from Sam Williams than the Jets are getting from Jermaine Johnson, and the Cowboys luckily were able to use a late 2nd round pick for Sam Williams' production compared to the Jets 1st round pick on Jermaine Johnson.

Johnson was PFFs highest graded rookie Edge before getting hurt. Not sure if he still is as I’d imagine it’s Aiden at this point.

Sam and JJ are probably fairly comparable as pass rushers, but JJ is already a beast against the run.

Guys don’t usually start off strong and not pan out unless injury is involved. From what we’ve seen from those who have been contributors so far I think it’s a pretty good sign of what’s to come.

Barring injury, players only get better. The question is how much better.

yes, it will happen this offseason. Some team is going after Armstrong with $$.
Pass rushers are in heavy demand, and they tend to get paid. Even overpaid.

If there wasn't a Williams on the rise, ..it would likely be a different story and Armstrong would be a mainstay.
It's not set in stone yet, but it's likely to go the FA way.

Always happen when you've invested, coached and developed a player, and here comes FA to swipe them away (Gregory, Cedrick Wilson)
Same likely to happen with safety Donovan Wilson as well, ..

Armstrong signed a 2 year contract, he’s not going anywhere until after the 23 season.

I knew he was a steal when we got him. He had an off the field issue his Jr. year. He had nearly identical numbers his senior year to Aidan Hutchinson. I thought he should have gone mid-late first round. If his head’s on straight and stays healthy…he’s the real deal.

It’s gotta be strange circumstances like a bad scheme change for it not to be an injury thing. Usually people move forward not back.

I think the scheme and coaching didn't help either one of those guys out. Nolan was the biggest coaching mistake Dallas has ever made behind Monte Kiffin.

I take it that you are complaining about 1 draft pick when they clearly had an outstanding draft no matter how you slice it. Do you follow the draft?

I remember a very wise fan on this site say he was the best DE in this draft class....

- I also admit that DE Jermaine Johnson and LB Devin Lloyd on my 1st rd wish radar.
and disappointed we took Tyler Smith instead.

- But kudos to Tyler player, .. the coaches that teach up him and prepared him very well
in just his rookie year, without little to no reps at LT in camp/preseason before Week 1 start.
and Tyler has size, athleticism, ..unbelievable natural country- power, confidence
and tenacity.

- I have no doubt he's gonna soon eventually be one of the better left tackles in the NFL.

I wanted Johnson when he was there but I am not sure how our O-line would have looked without Tyler and Smith going down.
