I agree, Boykin & Irvin may have to be swapped. Although 2012 draft will have a bounty of quality corners, so I could see a few really good ones (normally blue chippers in another draft year) with "flaws" like Boykin fall to 2nd and 3rd. As for Poe, he has not lived up to expectations this season. Memphis has not been a force against the run per pre-season expectations.

Love Irvin too, but his inconsistency is exactly why I'm not sure where to slot him. His athleticism and 2010 production screams first rounder, but his lack of size and production as a starter could have him fall to the 3rd.

He would be awesome as part of the Cowboys LB rotation.

Vinny Curry is a good one too, like you I think he goes in the first. And I'd rather have Konz.

My point is that any prospect has his faults . Wasting time questioning a 4th or 5th round pick on a mock is useless. Most of these late round picks will have major holes in their game (size , speed , etc) , but somebody has got to be picked .

Konz's medical condition is a concern for sure. So is his availablity in the draft. In addition, Konz's strength is not line calls. That said, based on his play & production, Konz fits a need and is worthy of being seleccted at the bottom of the first.

Semantics. The best DCs (like the Ryans & Capers) believe in multiplicity. If a player can play, they will find a spot for them. Irvin CAN play and Rob will maximize a player like Irvin, forget the labels. Some of the most explosive SOLBs in the game TODAY are the same size as Bruce Irvin (Clay Matthews & Von Miller).

He gets great push, if he can maintain his pad level. And he is very very strong. I am not advocating a starting position, I am looking for a short yardage specialist, whether it is a at DE or NT. Again, in a draft that is short on blue chip DT/NT, Poe may be taken higher.

It would be tempting to take Konz based on ability, need and the difficulty of finding a Center in the draft or FA.

Probably a lot of truth to your statement about labels, especially in the Rob Ryan defense. If he is over-whelmingly the BPA, then pick him regardless of SOLB vs WOLB. As far a Clay Matthews, he does play the left OLB, but he appears to play with more of an WOLB technique (i.e. passrush first, run/coverage second).

If your going to have a "plugger", might as well have a huge one. With his height, I can see him playing some DE.

Smith will be hard to cut. He has a better nose for the ball than all the safeties on the current roster, and he is just as physical as Church & McCray. He is also very intelligent. Kid is a playmaker.
Hopefully, a developmental guy can take the place of the 2nd kicker. It appears that Church and McCray are almost locks with the Cowboys coaching staff yet neither appears to project to a full time starter.

Bequette is a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 SOLB right now. He has very good timed speed. He also has great size. NFL scouts think he is athletic enough to convert to TE.
I watched him yesterday. Definitely worth a 6th. I could see him projecting to TE. He might lack the short area quick-twitch abilities of a OLB but could have more of a long strider type speed.
