I honestly don't remember. Did they say he was done for the year and came back?

There was a lot of talk that his wrist injury would knock him out for the season. He did come back and play first with a club and then a smaller cast -- all of which, IMHO, effected his play (not surprisingly).

It's official though, he is done for the year. Eatmen said that when it was first reported he might be done it was a 99% chance he was done and only 1% chance he play again.

Surgery is set for today I believe.

The kid is great too bad he cant stay healthy

How many games has he missed to date from injuries? Compare that to the rest of the team's starters and then the rest of the league.

Every year?

Well in the last two seasons Lee has missed 11 out of 32 games so 34%.

I'm not sure what the league average is. Off the time top of my head I can think of three other 3-4 teams where injuries have occured at the ILB position already:

Ravens - Ray Lewis out for the year
Texans - Cushing out for the year
Packers - Desmond Bishop out for the year and his replacement then went out for the year last week -- so they are on ILB #3.

We would be foolish to ignore the injury factor with this kid. It ain't personal. It is business. I love this kid. Simply love him. Might be our best PLAYMAKER on defense. If not the best, the 2nd best. But he came to us injured. He has been injured every year he has been here. And in what many people are pointing to as a pivotal season for the Garrett/Romo union...we get 6 games out of him. Staying on the field is part of being an elite player...whether it is your fault or not. But you cannot be viewed as an elite player on the sidelines. That is just the way it is.

Difference is...Ray has made his mark on the NFL and especially in that town and on that team. And he has a Super Bowl ring. Lee has barley unpacked his bags in Dallas...and he is super talented...but to have a long lasting impact on this team....he has to stay on the field more than he has.

I believe Patrick Willis was out for some time last year, and the 49ers actually got better because their other ILBs stepped up.

I couldn't agree more. Some here tried to convince us he's better than Ware. Not yet! I love Lee and hate like hell that this has happened to him. He's a very good player. But the difference between being viewed as very good vs. being great, sometimes gets lost in the infatuation.

Which is what we have to have.

It is not impossible. The sky is not falling. We are not doomed. Nothing is written in stone. In short, I ain't skeert.

I hate the French and their white flags.

Sean Leee is no Patrick Willis, he was hurt all during his college career as well.

It'd be different if he actually had a year under his belt without missing a significant amount of time. Not sure why everyone pimps Lee to be all world because of his continued injury history.

Doesn't matter. You gotta keep playing. The best teams have depth, and we can't be a good team without it.

Plus, we actually have options at ILB. I hate losing Lee (who I think was the guy that made this defense go), but he's gone and somebody gets to step up. If we can make it against NY this week, we can make it anywhere. (See what I did, there?)

Then you must hate the Cowboys cause they continually raise the white flag and will do so again after the next two beatdowns.

Lee and Willis both have around 55 tackles on the season, one INT and one forced fumble. For all intents and purposes they are equally important to their defense. There is no question in my mind that they are the same calibre player. One my be slightly better than the other but the degree to which that is true is minimal.

As far as injury history, sure, Lee has a history of some injuries to his person that are unfortunate. The good thing is that thus far, none of his injuries are related.

My point, which still stands, is that the 49ers lost Willis for several games, and missed no beat because of it. They would definitely prefer Willis in there, but they survived it. And Willis IS the leader there.

I see no reason we cannot survive without Lee and with Carter and Conner. I personally don't wish that we had to find out, but in the end both those guys get paid to play football, so I expect, and assume that Garrett and Ryan expect, that they are going to step onto the field and do their job.

If they are successful, I would think that it would mean good things for Lee, because rather than rely on him to be out there all the time we can spell him with different packages and perhaps protect him.

Injuries happen; it's a team sport. How the team responds is what matters, not that there is a glaring hole.

I like what the Niners have though in Larry Grant behind Willis. I think it was easier for them to not miss a beat with him. Connor has made one play this year and I have seen him get beat in the passing game...I just hope that now that he is more familiar with the defense that we will see him become a solid starter.

If you're counting his first year then I cry foul. I'm dismissing the first year just as I did with Carter. We knew both would be limited or not play at all their first year. He had the broken bone last year but by memory only I recall few games missed.

After his first year he missed a game with a sore hammy

Missed another two I think with a dislocated wrist.

This one sucks and is by far the worst, but the two above are pretty standard for ILBs. IMO getting through an entire season with your LBers completely healthy is pretty tough, and it's been 2010 since we IRed a major player.

The only concern I have is whether the foot injury will hurt his career going forward. Will he be able to plant and cut like he always has?

Lee's been hurt every year on the Pros and if not mistaken every single year in College as well.
