Sammy Watkins sees big differences in Kyle Orton

The Kyle Orton era has begun in Buffalo, and Bills players already see the difference with the veteran passer running the show.

"We just had a different approach to practice," wide receiver Sammy Watkins said, according to ESPN.com. "(Orton) demands what he wants out of us. He's more of a veteran guy. The way he talked, the way he handles business, the way he looks at plays and breaks down defenses, it's kind of different than EJ.

"He reads it quicker, the ball is coming out faster. That's just some things that we have to adjust to."
Wide receiver Robert Woods has also picked up on the change.

"His directness in the huddle," he said, "telling us what to look for and be ready for when we're breaking the huddle when he calls the play."

Bills receivers had no problem making a direct comparison between quarterbacks, but Orton wasn't nearly as comfortable when prompted to do the same. During a meeting with reporters in front of his locker, Orton was asked how he'll run the offense better than Manuel.

"Not saying that I will," Orton replied. "I mean, that's a loaded question. That's a crap question."

Sounds like Manuel is a bust. And it sounds like my fantasy team pick of Watkins might get an up-tick in points each week with Orton.

And I'll be curious to see how Orton does. I expect mediocre results.

Speaking of quitting on the team, this came out too:

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Kyle Orton reportedly had two issues with the organization that ignited his desire to leave the team.

One reason, according to a report from ESPN's Ed Werder, was that Orton and quarterback Tony Romo didn't have a good relationship. The other reason cited in the report is that Orton grew weary of the power struggle on offense.

Buffalo announced this week that Orton will start Sunday in place of EJ Manuel.

I don't think the real reason Orton left is stated there. I just don't buy that.

Orton's a bum. He quit on the Dallas Cowboys. An ACL & MCL injury in his first game would get no sympathy from me.

Consider the source.

I posted this before but I've been in Buffalo the last couple of months and the news here (the local news leads with the Bills no matter what is happening in the city) is the biggest reason why EJ got benched this week was that receivers were running WIDE OPEN against the Texans and he just failed to pick up on them. Sammy later chimed in saying he was "surprised" how wide open he was in the Texans defensive schemes.

This is why I'm very confident this week.

Kyle Orton is a scrub. The Bills just signed their own death warrant.

Who cares. Let him do whatever in Buffalo. They're not going to be going anywhere serious with or without Orton.

FWIW...Orton > Manuel
again...not saying much.

I do agree that Watkins' value went up in FFB though :)

Callahan and Garrett

Lol. People actually believe Callahan had the power in Dallas to struggle? I don't think he really did. What we had last season was Jerry wanting Jason to do something we didn't really have the personnel in place to do. I don't think Callahan entered into the power equation as much as he was just put in a really awkward spot.

And Orton is still the better option over E.J. Manuel right now. That doesn't mean he is a great option.

Manuel needs more development. Kyle Orton still is not the answer in Buffalo. He's a progress stopper and is like we've already established, garbage.

They'll be drafting high again.
