Sanchez DB, Oklahoma, declared a year too early in my opinion, but has been a solid player for the Sooners. I don't think he is worthy of our pick in the top two or maybe even three rounds, but would probably be a steal in the fourth round or later. He might fall like Tony Jefferson did (who I also pimped at the time) and has turned out to be a good quality NFL player.

Thoughts?

Yes, we should have been all over Jefferson in UDFA. Instead, we signed Jeff Heath.

Against Clemson there were two db that avoided contact at all cost. They were jumping out of the way of Clemson backs and the qb. I don't want one of those guys on the Cowboys. I can't remember if it was Sanchez or not

13 picks the past 2 seasons yes please.

We need players with the nose for the ball.

Sanchez was very up and down. He was badly beaten at times but was also a big-time playmaker.
I think he can be a good zone CB but not early in his career.

I know he's not perfect, but that's a little of our problem. We get these corners that are superior athletes with all the measurables, but they can't catch, or never had many picks, etc. People that get the ball usually translate to getting the ball at any level. I don't even like OU but every game I watched this kid was making plays.

I am not sure why Jefferson fell in the draft. He was a very productive player for Oklahoma.

Consensus is there was something we don't know about.
He was a game changer for them... from that to UDFA made zero sense.
He is clearly a better player than JJ Wilcox.....

I would have zero issues drafting him just want to caution I do not think he is a year 1 starter.
Mo is a substantially better player (right now).
But Zack the 4-6 games a year Mo is out then a starter in 3 years would be excellent.

Our pass defense was substantially better with Mo then without the past 3 years. SUBSTANTIALLY.
If you think we are gonna magically find a better CB without a high R1 pick or huge dollars investment you are very likely mistaken.

Past 3 years? Sterling Moore was way better than Mo. Im amazed people still support that bum.

No, he wasn't. Shortly after having to step in and start for an injured Mo, Moore was released.
Fans tend to be dumb but seldom are they more dumb than evaluating a guy who under-performed his draft stock. And Mo has well underachieved.

Moore as a nickel CB used on scrub WRs looked pretty darn good. Asked to play outside versus #1 guys he looked bad.

No Dallas CB looks very good because we have the worst safeties in football.

It isn't a coincidence Brandon Browner went from solid CB and big money deal in Seattle to being ranked dead last at CB this year minus those safeties.

PFF is simply terrible at ranking CBs. Always have been. You can't grade plays evenly when one guy guards Julio Jones and the other guards Devin Street. But they do. They give each play a win/loss and ignore quality of opponent. Per play scores that ignore qualitative adjustment are pointless.

Mo shut down OBJ and held his own versus other top opponents. He had a terrible week once injured and he couldn;t handle the quickness of Edelman.

He's a lower CB1 to mid-tier CB2. Moore is a spot starter type at best.

As long as Mo was healthy he was asked to guard WR1 here. We gave up on asking a guy we paid 8m per to do so.

I am actually in favor of bringing back Mo on a team friendly deal. Average starter cornerback money would be about right in my opinion.

it's not gonna matter who we have playing CB as long as we have a philosophy of playing the man instead of making plays on the football. Jerry will not hire a db coach that doesn't preach " bend but don't break" football. We are content letting WRs riddle us for 40 catches a ball game just as long as we don't give up the long ball. Problem is....we have tried to incorperate both philosphies...man coverage/single high FS D...w/ a soft zone concept....and it's just not working.
