Michael Irvin ought to hang his head in shame for playing that crap.

When I heard HTTR I swear to God I thought about you and your reaction to hearing this, lol.

Have you ever seen the original lyrics to that abortion?

Hail to the Commanders!
Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath!
Fight for old Dixie!
Run or pass and score -- we want a lot more!
Scalp 'em, swamp 'em -- We will take 'em big score
Read 'em, weep 'em, touchdown - we want heap more
Fight on, Fight on -- 'Till you have won
Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah!

Someone please tell me again how the name is a tribute to Native Americans.

George Preston Marshall wanted the Commanders to be the team of the Confederacy.

His words, not mine.

I think the words now are "Fight for old DC!".....not the comic.

Yes, I posted the original words to the song. Anyone can look it up if they think that isn't true.

I don't know which is more bizzarre:

The idea of Native Americans fighting on behalf of the capitol of a country with whom they were at war for more than 100 years,

Or the fact that the tune itself is a direct rip-off of "Yes, Jesus Loves Me."

You know, I never picked up on that.

I know it was written by Corrine Griffith, G.P. Marshall's wife and she owned the rights to the song as the author. After they divorced Clint Murchison and Bedford Wynne bought the rights to the song from her as a final gamble to get enough votes to be awarded an NFL franchise. She was more than happy to slap her ex, who loved the song.

The Dixie line was changed after 1962 when they ended segregation as a team.

It's a song about a certain kind of peanut that's found in the DC area.
