Saquon Barkley availability for W1 will be in question if he doesn't get long-term deal from Giants

He already played on the 5th year option, so I'm not surprised if he holds outs. Such a limited timeframe for a 2nd contract and if he sat this year out, he'd still get a good offer next off-season. Worst case rest your body and then snag a free agent deal.

Same thing with the Giants. 2nd contracts for RB have been really bad lately so it's a gamble. Barkley has also with endorsements + this season being guaranteed made almost 60 million dollars so it's not like he can pull the whole "i'm some 5th rounder whose only made a couple million, I'm getting screwed out of generational wealth" (60 million at only 26 with still a high probably of getting a good 2nd contract isn't exact pity central, especially at a position that's towards the bottom in pay)

Barkley turned down a 12M a year contract. He's 26 years old. I'm thinking he just doesn't want to play for the Giants. Because no way does he sit this year out losing 10M, then get a better offer next year. Not going to happen. But like you said, he's not broke.

What an idiot, i mean what is he thin.....pardon me, what? they play the Cowboys W1? Barkman stand your ground, it's the principle of the thing. Your only bite at the big enchilada. RBs have short lifespan in the NFL. We support you man..

He'll hold out then sign at the last minute and play the first game.
He'll pull a hamstring after the second play and be out for half the season.

At least he will sit. Like our star RB SHOULD have done...for self-preservation

Barkley knows how to do that.

From what I've read, the guarantees in the contract Barkley was offered is 19.5M. Obviously he doesn't like that. What do the Giants do? They won't be very good without him. But it's a huge risk paying him more at age 26. Everyone has to wonder how much more he has left.

Lol is he really gonna test the market?
No. He will miss time, they’ll build it up all camp. He will sign the day before kickoff … go for like 120 and they’ll take about how amazing his is lol

With his injury history and the fact this will be his sixth season, doesn’t look like they’re going to pay him what he wants. He’s coming off a career high in rushing attempts. Just paying Daniel Jones a lot of money makes it even more unlikely they’ll pay Barkley unless he’s willing to sign a team friendly deal, which doesn’t appear he is.

They offered him $13 million per. So they are willing to negotiate

He’s been offered $19.5 million guaranteed and turned it down. He could make $22 million on two franchise tags.

Do not blame the player - he needs guary's in this league max out what you can. I never felt he was as much of a game changer as people cited.

Also - yeah don't pay RBs.
