Saquon Barkley availability for W1 will be in question if he doesn't get long-term deal from Giants

Correct, and he slowed down as the year progressed.
He only had 18 carries in the Giants two playoff games, but he did put up 114 yards averaging just over 6 yards a carry.

At 'Big Blue View' - Giants fan site (SBNation) - 6 off the last 10 articles posted since Wednesday are about Barkley; 2 others list him in the post title.
The other two... one about a journeyman QB being Daniel Jones' backup; the other one is about former HC Tom Couglin and 5 other Giants being semifinalists for the 2024 HOF.

Not directly, but Barkley not being available for the season opener against the Cowboys could have a huge impact.
If we can't beat NY with their best then DAL ain't gonna amount to crap

Barkley should be the poster child for all of these articles about what is a RB worth. He's an awesome athlete, but isn't the key to making it to a SB.

if hes in they lose if hes out they lose

we're 10-1 in our last 11 against them

Prediction:
The Giants sign Barkley, making him the highest paid RB.
Week one he has 12 carries for 26 yards and gets carted off mid third quarter
after a hip-drop tackle by, let's say, Sam Williams. Monday morning
NFL announces outlawing the tackling style immediately and fines
and suspends Williams for 8 games. (Tongue-in-cheek, of course)

Surprised this isn't being made into a bigger deal around here, but Saquon did not get the long term deal he wanted.

Do you think he'll be in uniform week 1 when we face off with the Giants?

Either way we will destroy them, but without Barkley it's going to be a massacre.

Not a chance he misses that game if he's healthy.

But it won't matter. He doesn't dictate games.

It’s not that Saquan will miss the Cowboys game it’s just that he won’t be in game shape. The kid will miss all of training camp and will report to the Giants at the end of August. Do you all remember how Zeke played against the Giants when he sat out training camp? Zeke was never the same.

I find it Interesting that ESPN and most major sports show’s commentators all want every NFL player to be the highest paid at their positions, while never ever looking at it from the owners point of view

Its become groupthink and actually very child-like to not understand nor care how a salary cap works

I remember a day when the sports media used to be unbiased and actually comment on a story from both points of view and let the viewer decide.

The Giants already made a top of the market offer. $14M/season and more than 2 years worth of franchise tag money guaranteed.

This is an era where Dalvin Cook gets cut over $10M after a 1000 yard season, and is left twisting on the vine. Saquon wants $16M, but given the abhorrent state of the RB market, even $14M looks generous.

If I am the Giants, I would stand on my final offer, knowing it's probably too high already. And if I am Saquon, I would give Le'Veon Bell a phone call.
