The key going on whether or not you are pro romo or anti romo still has to be creating an environment where he is in position to be as successful as possible. The phrase is "Romo friendly".

It started when we released Terrell Owens so that Romo wouldn't have to keep forcing him the ball. In response Romo's interception numbers went way down.

His production dropped as well though. That is because the talent wasn't there in terms of weapons and the offensive line got worse.

From 1993 to 1996 the cowboys were in the top 6 in the New York Life Protection Index.

Aikman got better protection than most QBs in the league.

By 2000, we were 20th in the league.

In 2002 we were 31st...

2007 is a best new era rating with a 73.6 which put us in 7th place.

I'm glad we got Tyron Smith, but even that isn't drastic enough change. It's necessary to give Romo the same advantages that you see in New Orleans, New England, and Indianapolis.

These "top QBs" that usually rank above Romo... yeah there is a reason for that. They get clean pockets with more throwing time than Romo.

Yea, its no secret that the best teams also have the best offensive lines (most of the time).

Agree, add to that the effectiveness of a running game from a good line that enhances play action and Tony becomes better....and that's pretty damn good.

I completely agree here but Smith is a gigantic upgrade on the line though, Columbo became a liability for a while there and Free surprised me by doing much better, I was actually scared when they cut Flozel and rolled with him but I'm glad it worked out. We have on old line for sure but Kosier and Gurode should be ok for a couple more years, so I have heard. Free and Tyrone Smith, I am so glad to say, should be holding down our tackle spots for a while to come. Then Davis should give us another year, hopefully and maybe next year we address guard or maybe someone we already has steps up.

I believe Romo can be a beast if he has more time in the pocket, he is forced to run around and kind of ad lib more than he needs to, but also the running game could be so much better if they had a line with a nice push, hole creation and that gives Romo a run game to fall back on at times which he hasn't had very much of.
