1. Tra Battle (dumb; cost us the Pittsburgh game)

2. Joe Berger (useless depth that would never see the field anyway if PROCTOR was ahead of him)

3. Kevin Burnett (dumb; you've read his blogs, give me Ray Lewis, Jerry)

4. Chris Canty (inconsistent and overrated)

5. Bobby Carpenter (no comment, maybe he can get a permanent job on ESPN's First Take)

6. Patrick Crayton (all talk, no walk; make Miles Austin the #3 WR and draft WR Kenny Britt from Rutgers)

7. Tony Curtis (tired of his illegal motion and false start penalties)

8. Anthony Henry (unless he converts to a safety in SPECIAL packages and takes a pay cut...I'll never forget the sight of a one armed man catching a TD pass a solid 4 yards to the side of Henry)

9. Brad Johnson (please retire, I was watching an old NFL Films production and saw Brad in it)

10. Tank Johnson (yeah you're a free agent and you stink, baby)

11. Adam Jones (not worth the trouble AND the media attention; these aren't the 90's Cowboys, JERRY, where those teams had the LEADERSHIP and ACCOUNTABILITY to "handle" players like Pacman)

12. Pat McQuistan (useless; although he'll probably get picked up by Miami in the offseason and become a 10-time Pro Bowler)

13. Sam Paulescu (God that dude is ugly)

14. CORY PROCTOR (wouldn't even start in the CFL)

15. Marcus Spears (all talk, no walk)

16. Zack Thomas (already said he doesn't want to be back; his arms are really short..kinda scary)

17. Roy Williams (S) (unless he accepts a pay cut, get rid of him; he's a shell of his former self and use our 2nd round pick on a strong safety...safety draft class is DEEP this year)

18. Isaiah Stanback (nice draft pick, Jerry, THE NEXT HINES WARD)

19. Pat Watkins (the experiment is over, go give up a 90 yard TD pass then cry about it)

I pretty much agree with all of that except Spears and Crayton. Spears has a year left on his deal and played OK. Plus we cant lose both him and Canty at the same time. Regarding Clayton, I would rather have 4 good receivers than 3 because of the possibilties of injuries

Mcquistan, Spears, Adam Jones, Crayton, & Henry will all be back.

Spears had his best year of his career this year. you just want him gone because he doesn't get sacks. FYI, DE's in 3-4s don't get sacks! He played extremely solid against the run all year long.

McQuistan did a better job that Proctor in the game, we are not going to cut 2 backups at one position.

If Pacman acts up in the offseason, he is gone, if he doesn't, he should stay. He is EXTREMELY cheap and a great corner for the price we have him.

Crayton just signed a new deal, he ain't going anywhere.

Henry will stay at least one more year. He realizes he has to go to safety and I am pretty sure that is where he will be next year.

I agree with you...just don't think they could cut that many even if they wanted to. McQ has potential....I just don't think the caching staff has figured out where to put him yet....personally I would like to see him at LT instead of that over-paid piece of trash but that's just me.

My INITIAL THOUGHTS of Changes for 2009

We need to draft the following:

OL (especially Guard and Center for Depth)
S (Strong or Free)
LB (Inside and Outside) – Must be a good Special Team Player as well
DE (Run Stopper to replace Canty)
NT (Backup for Jay R. and eventually develop into a Starter)

We need to have the following LEAVE via Free Agency:

Chris Canty
Tank Johnson
Zach Thomas
Cory Proctor
Keith Davis
Brooks Bollinger
Joe Berger
Carlos Polk

We need to Trade/CUT/WAIVE:

Brad Johnson
Anthony Henry
Greg Ellis (possible Trade for a 4th or 5th Rounder)
Deon Anderson (NO FBs needed if WE MOVE TO A 2 TE OFFENSE)
Patrick Watkins
Courtney Brown

Im just wondering if theres any chance we leave the other Defensive end spot for Hatcher and Bowen to battle it out. This Marcus Dixon kid from Hampton is a nice PS player as well. I'm assuming we'll draft an end as well.

Killer and Polk don't need to leave.

Only 19 names? I admire your restraint. I don't see Tony and TO co-existing another year.

I can make a case for why I could agree with almost everyone in the post from the OP except for Crayton.

Sorry but I don't think Crayton is a bad player and I don't think this year has anything to do with him as much as it has do with Garrett's schemes being useless and not using him like they should. I want to see Owens, Williams, Crayton, and Austin return at WR. Beyond that the Cowboys can churn the bottom of the WR roster for better players, especially in the Special teams mold.

1. Tra Battle (dumb; cost us the Pittsburgh game) He was an emergency player anyway.

2. Joe Berger (useless depth that would never see the field anyway if PROCTOR was ahead of him) Don't care.

3. Kevin Burnett (dumb; you've read his blogs, give me Ray Lewis, Jerry) He's a solid ST'er and nickel backer. Don't really care either way.

4. Chris Canty (inconsistent and overrated) Only if we can find someone better.

5. Bobby Carpenter (no comment, maybe he can get a permanent job on ESPN's First Take) Was NEVER given a fair shot in Dallas. Hope he gets a fair shot somewhere else.

6. Patrick Crayton (all talk, no walk; make Miles Austin the #3 WR and draft WR Kenny Britt from Rutgers) Don't care.

7. Tony Curtis (tired of his illegal motion and false start penalties) Illegal motion and false starts? WTH you talking about? Try missed blocks and missed assignments.

8. Anthony Henry (unless he converts to a safety in SPECIAL packages and takes a pay cut...I'll never forget the sight of a one armed man catching a TD pass a solid 4 yards to the side of Henry) Bye Henry.

9. Brad Johnson (please retire, I was watching an old NFL Films production and saw Brad in it) Should have cut him and signed Leftwich when we had the chance.

10. Tank Johnson (yeah you're a free agent and you stink, baby) Buh Bye.

11. Adam Jones (not worth the trouble AND the media attention; these aren't the 90's Cowboys, JERRY, where those teams had the LEADERSHIP and ACCOUNTABILITY to "handle" players like Pacman) He'll be back. Not sure how I feel about that.

12. Pat McQuistan (useless; although he'll probably get picked up by Miami in the offseason and become a 10-time Pro Bowler) I'd like to see him come back and get another year under Houch.

13. Sam Paulescu (God that dude is ugly) >><<

14. CORY PROCTOR (wouldn't even start in the CFL) Good riddance.

15. Marcus Spears (all talk, no walk) Don't care.

16. Zack Thomas (already said he doesn't want to be back; his arms are really short..kinda scary) Feel sorry for him for having to be in Dallas for a year.

17. Roy Williams (S) (unless he accepts a pay cut, get rid of him; he's a shell of his former self and use our 2nd round pick on a strong safety...safety draft class is DEEP this year) I want him back. We could have REALLY used him against the Ravens.

18. Isaiah Stanback (nice draft pick, Jerry, THE NEXT HINES WARD) Don't care.

19. Pat Watkins (the experiment is over, go give up a 90 yard TD pass then cry about it) My god he sucks.

This is the biggest reason why we aren't in the playoffs. There were QB's out there to be had during last offseason. You mentioned Leftwich, there was also Chris Simms, Daunte Culpepper, heck I might even throw Joey Harrington into the mix. Any of these QB's could have gotten us that win over St.Louis. Instead they stay with Johnson after everyone saw how he didn't have it anymore prior to this season. I am so angry about this because I remember when the discussion of us signing Simms came up some people on here were saying 'we don't need him, Johnson is good enough, Johnson is better than Simms'. It came back to bite us in the end.

Sorry but Burnett is someone who should have had a bigger role here. To me, I look at Burnett and see what is wrong with the franchise - never trusting a player to grow into a role - prefering a vet instead.

Also, Spears played very well this year. He was solid and is a team leader. Just because he's not a superstar and was drafted too high doesn't mean he isn't valuable.

These players I could care less about, they suck:

Tra Battle

Joe Berger

Bobby Carpenter

Tony Curtis

Pat McQuistan

Sam Paulescu - McBriar's back. Good bye.

These players I don't want to see on the Cowboys next year:

Anthony Henry - that pat on the head after Buckhalter scored was the last straw for me. Are you kidding me Henry? Are you...nevermind

Brad Johnson - Retire!, terrible

Tank Johnson - What did he do besides look good in Hard Knocks

Adam Jones - don't want him, wish Jerry didn't bring him back after the suspension. what a waste and if he has talent I haven't seen it.

CORY PROCTOR - terrible and the reason Romo got injured

Marcus Spears - a bust

Zack Thomas - respect the guy for wanting a ring badly. I almost say bring him back but at a very reduced role.

Roy Williams (S) - I just don't want him. He has regressed and if I see one more person say he would have made a difference in the Baltimore game I am going to.... No he wouldn't have. What plays has he made in the last two years that makes you think he would have made a difference in that Baltimore game. Nothing. Good bye.

Isaiah Stanback - injured too much.

Pat Watkins - just flat out sucks and gets injured too much

Agree with you about Burnett.

Disagree regarding Spears. He has a SOLID year (not good) and no way in hell is he a "team Leader".

The team doesn't have any leaders.

Exactly. Good point. When I was driving home last night after the game I asked myself, "Who is the sole leader of the Cowboys?" Folks; we don't have one and that's why we still have won a playoff game since 96'. No one takes responsibility for their actions. Troy and Irvin were those figures during the dynasty years. Romo and T.O. do not possess those qualities. This is why we need a player like a Ray Lewis who is OUTSPOKEN and won't take the BS and missed assignments from any of the players. WE WERE HAVING MISSED ASSIGNMENTS IN WEEK 17. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
