Good read. Below is just a part of the article and worth the full read.

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/10/9/6922467/tony-romo-cowboys-career-statistics-2014-nfl

Tony Romo's performance Sunday was about as Tony Romo as it gets. By the naked eye, it was a classic -- steady with vintage punctuation . There was a moment of extreme heroism, like when he spun out of the arms of the most feared pass rusher in today's NFL and threw a 43-yard touchdown strike. There was also a bad pick -- Romo throwing a soft pass to the end zone from the edge of the red zone right into the hands of Kendrick Lewis.

The stat line -- 28 for 41, 324 yards, two touchdowns and one interception -- feels right. Statistically, it was almost perfectly average. He posted a 98.0 passer rating and 7.78 adjusted yards per attempt (ANY/A), which made it the 61st or 56th best performance among Romo's 113 career starts according to two reasonably good measures of overall quarterback performance, respectively. Romo's Sunday sat almost exactly on his career median.

What made the day special was that theCowboys won. Dallas has never been good at giving Romo support worthy of his play. The result has been a whisker-thin margin of error for the quarterback for much of his career, making him one of the biggest victims of over-stated hate in recent memory. With one of the best offensive talent groups and a surprisingly good defense, Dallas may finally be ready to do right by their quarterback.

The remarkable thing I see in this article is that he's got RGIII in the quadrant "Internet says sucks, but QB is good."

And can I say, when you're a career 95.9 passer with a 2:1 TD to turnover ratio, it gets so tiring hearing about Turnover Tony comments, even in a largely positive article. (and, OP, thanks for posting this, even if I'm kvetching about it a little bit).

People were pretty brutal to Don Meredith and Danny White. It comes with the position of Dallas Cowboys QBs that don't win SB's / Championships... there is no mercy.

I think a lot the negative press is due to the Dallas media. They talk all the time with the National media providing their "inside" information.

Why can't Cowboys fans realize this?

That they were brutal to other QBs in the past, or that it comes with the position in Dallas? For my part, I know it's always the case. I just happen to believe it's always been in appropriate to judge a player by the performance of a team. It's especially bad when it's a very good player and not a very good team.

By the same token, a bad player on an otherwise good team doesn't get a pass for poor play. The idea that a good player should be mercilessly brutalized (to paraphrase Carolina) because of factors outside of his control is just foreign to me.

Because Dallas is about Championships. It took a very long time for us to get that way, a lot of disappointment early on. I, for one, don't ever want to see it change. I would hope and even expect, that any QB who comes to Dallas better understand that good stats are not the mark for a QB in Dallas. Championships are the mark and like it or not, the QB is the guy who is looked to for this.

It's the best job in the world if you can do it. It's brutal if you can not. Don't step up unless you can keep up. You'll only die tired.

Fair enough.

No idea. I can't imagine how bad record-wise we would have been without Romo. I think he's a class act. In fact all 5 of the great ones are.

I agree that each of Meredith, White and Romo have received unwarranted criticism from Cowboys fans. Can we recognize that without including them among the ranks of the "great ones"? Seems an exaggeration in the opposite direction.

Always good to see him get a little love in the national media. I've never seen an athlete in any sport who gets so unfairly ripped with such consistency.

Agreed.. Last night on Inside the NFL. Boomer stated that Phillip Rivers gets the most grief out of anyone.. LOL.. What a crock.

The fact that 300+ yards passing and an almost 100 rating is "average" for Tony says it all.

Not bad for a lazy, poor leader, noodle arm, finished, stupid, cripple. All those terms have specifically been used by the usual suspects here.

Uh, you forgot "backward hat wearing"...shame on you!

We'll just have to agree to disagree.
