Maybe that is Jerry's hook to sell more tickets.

Green is one of the most under rated and under appreciated great Dallas Cowboys of all time. The man was a brilliant CB and he moved to Safety for the benefit of the team and he was still great.
Absolutely, this is about putting the best 11 guys on the field. Teams play so much 3 WR sets that having better coverage out there only helps you long run. This is a move designed to not force us to make the Nickel our base D.masomenos85;2680176 said:So is this something that you're on board with Hos, do you think Scandrick has the ability to make the same sort of impact as Green?

It actually moves to what I would call Center Field more than SS or FS. You basically put more emphasis on the ILBs to play the run and turn the DBs into tighter man coverage all across the field. You will see Hamlin blitz more than last year and you will probably see more Corner blitzes from time to time too. The reason is you don't have a lapse in coverage ability.hendog;2680188 said:So does this in effect move Hamlin to SS?
You are exactly right. This is going to put the CBs in the WRs faces and it forces us to read motions by the TE to limit his impact.mperfection;2680192 said:To make this work, however, you really need corners who can excel in man-to-man coverage. I would imagine that the STAR position would leave little room for zone coverage, especially should a team start out in a 2-WR set, then move the TE out in a receiver position.
More than likely, our defense would have to react swiftly by either putting Hamlin on the TE and letting Scandrick cover the middle of the field, or quickly putting a bigger corner on the TE and letting Scandrick cover the receiver.

It sure does, and it also should produce more turnovers hopefully. Which we really need to do if we are going to take a step up as a Defense and not just be the top Sacks team in the NFL.Zaxor;2680258 said:What I really like about going more man to man...(of course this is only possible with competent cover men) is it usually makes a QB hold the ball a half second longer...and I can think of many times in the last couple of years where just a half second more would have made a huge differance.

Think Dallas could have a package where they drop into a 3-3-5 or a 4-2-5 formation?masomenos85;2680032 said:Can someone explain what that is all about? Will he be playing more as a safety in normal packages and then as slot in nickel and dime? Any info would be appreciated.
Yeah, he'd be the only true S on the field.hendog;2680188 said:So does this in effect move Hamlin to SS?
