Nod to Blackie Sherrod.

Feels like whether Dak plays or not, Dallas will have to game plan to run the ball heavily this week unless his status has truly been a smokescreen.

I am actually not that upset at Cooper Rush as a back up. He's been here a long time and knows the offense inside and out. In a 1-2 game situation he's probably a better choice than more talented but less familiar guys would be.

Dallas has a better overall roster than Minny and you'd like to get this win to keep target on top seeding; BUT 1 game on the road in a dome is probably not that deep over 18 weeks.

With the Dak focus I think we have under-reported some good news with returnees. La'el Collins is a heck of a 6th OL, Gallup is the team's best deep threat and Dallas will have more options this week on defense and special teams when elevations occur.

I think the BYE week is especially good for special teams. Gives Bones time to implement something specific to Minny.

I am not a fan at all of the weird rooting for rivals early in the season stuff I see far too much on twitter and these boards. It's just weird. Shrugging if they win and helps you, sure. Being all we need them to win a week 7 game? Insanity.

Coming off a Bye Week and having to wait and play Sunday night is just cruel and unusual punishment. The NFL needs to do better. Eyeballs will be there whenever Dallas plays stretching it out as long as possible is poor form. Sunday night or Monday night before a BYE is fine. After is just rude.

There is definitely a buzz around town and especially The Star right now. You can feel this roster has done what so few have and covered it's gaps. Belief is growing.

nice post and i also think rush may surprise people plus we got the bye at a really good time....

I will say, on the scheduling thing, i think the NFL did most cowboys fans a favor having as the night game so that parents can take the little ones out to trick or treat and then come back with a beverage in hand and enjoy the night game vs having to go in the middle of the 430 game....just my thoughts

I have 6 kids and I won’t be going out at 4:30! Thats way too early. We will probably start at 6. It’s an awful night to have our game.

Btw Minny is coming off a bye too.

Nice point about Rush, but I think Dak plays.

Interesting about having to wait until night after a bye.

Tennessee and Seattle will have completed three games each between Lamb scoring in NE and kickoff vs Vikes.

I thought I saw where Broddus said Gallup is still another week away from playing.

good chatter..yes i concur this is NOT 2020..

we can survive a game or two with a backup qb as bus driver dont mess it up hand it off a lot type of GP..

we saw GG nearly beat PB last year, that all we need from rush is chance and this is a far better team right now for the top down and possibly weather the storm a few games without dak to assure hes ready for the late push, didn't Dalton beat MN last year with similar game plan?

makes sense to me.its not an auto tank job this year if dak goes down..wont be pretty but its possible

Well...we're going out at 6 also and the game doesn't start until 830 est for me so we will be done around then...guessing for cst might have to record the first 30

The thing about backup QBs is they may connect more with a receiver the starting QB does not. Dak likes to use Schultz in tough situations, but who knows maybe Rush gives Jarwin an opportunity to earn his contract.

I don't see Rush being a threat to go deep. Dak has been dropping those long balls in pretty consistently in 2021 and Rush cannot do that. The Vikings will key on the RBs and make Rush beat them. Back in 2019, Dak through for 397 yards against the Vikings with Cooper and Cobb getting more than 100 yards each. But they ran for only 50 yards, on 22 carries. Zeke had 20 carries. I remember watching the game a few times and the Vikings kept their LBs close to the LOS. They were shooting gaps and stuffing the run pretty effectively. On the other side of the ball the Vikings OL was handling the Cowboys DL one on one and they always seemed to have an extra offensive lineman at the 2nd level blocking our LBs. The Vikings ran for 153 yards.

The Cowboys kept it close but ultimately fell 28-24.

I don't think Rush is up to the task if the Vikings stuff the run again. He is not going to throw for 397 yards and 3TDs like Dak did. The crowd noise and lack of experience/skill are going to impede his ability to move the offense down the field and sustain drives. Without Dak, this could be a blowout.

There are times that I lament no longer reading a real printed newspaper. My recollection is that Scattershooting was always on the inside of the sports section cover page.

I don't lament not having piles of newspapers to carry out to the curb

I think some fans are so paranoid about being let down by this team again that they want all the assurances they can get to have a cushion. It's no different than wanting a blowout win to avoid an in-doubt, nerve-wracking game like the NE game. If that's what people need to do to chase calmness, they're not hurting anyone.

Six! Machine!

Even if Dak plays, this will be a different offense this week. Kellen Moore is going to test this new O-line with La'el and Martin at guard and Smith and Steele at tackle and see how many times in a row we can road grade our way to the endzone. Beating the Vikes D into oblivion on a national stage will serve as notice to all teams that this Cowboys team is serious about a run for the Super Bowl. With how the game has changed into pass-heavy offense, teams don't do this anymore but I think it will work because we have the talent on the O-line to get it done.

You didn't mention Shelby Freeman the Postal Pest.

I actually feel we'll be seeing the best OL of the season. I'm pretty excited to see how they come out tomorrow night. Go Cowboys
