Forget the run:
This mantra is popular lately because the teams who pass successfully generally win in the playoffs. At the same time the teams who are still left include the Jets who are about as bad a passing team as exists, Minnesota who is run heavy with a top 5 RB, the Saints who ran the ball when they were building that 13-0 start and the Colts who knew/knows great success with a balanced offense that audibled/s to the run if coverage was/is played. Dallas needs to change it's mindset on drafting OL away from pure run monsters but this team still needs a running game. Ask Philly how that 'blank the run' theory works in the playoffs.
Cut RW11:
This is one where I am now sadly on board. Bottom line is RW11 is a rather sensitive guy and I am not sure he can really rebound here at the scene of his greatest failures. A change of scenery may be needed. Plus he may well need to be back in that Martz offense. I have never seen a guy make worse blitz reads. RW11 still has talent but he is an ill fit in this offense and his size is not much use to us with Austin simply a better version of the same guy. I love Texas high schoolers and this kid is pure Texas but his Cowboy days are numbered imho.
Wade sucks and we can't win with him:
You either win games or you do not and Wade has resided over the best stretch since the Super Bowl years. He hasn't achieved playoff glory yet but he did get us a win finally and he has gotten us to the divisional round twice in 3 years. That's a lot better than his predecessors did. Yes, BP, handed him a quality front office and a lot of talent but Wade had to fill gaps and a lot of the talent who made impacts this year either weren't here or did zero under BP. Like I do credit BP with Romo because he recognized his potential and eventually named him starter but Miles was a ST guy for BP. He was given zero chance as a WR under BP.
End of the day Wade has done a good job and deserves to be here but what he has done thus far won't be enough to last another three years. The team's development must continue provided Romo stays healthy.
Draft 2010:
Since almost no one expects free agency to be fruitful in 2010 then all we have is the draft. fortunately for us it is deep at OT and DT. Those are both areas where we can use some help. I doubt we ignore WR but do not see it as a high priority. Ogletree looks like he can take a step up and Miles, Crayton, Ogletree is a solid 3 WR set even if RW11 is gone. If RW11 is here drafting a WR does little to make him play better. Zero need to reach for a WR. This draft should tilt to offense. That side of the ball is far older and can use more youth. The defense has 3 or 4 guys sitting on the IR waiting for camp as it is.
Early prediction is OT in r1, DT in r2, OG in r3.
Cowboys MVP's:
Romo and Ware will win every year so they get excluded for context.
Offense: Miles Austin. When he played well, Dallas played well. Garrett has to find ways to get him the ball regardless of what happens.
Defense: Mike Jenkins. Jenkins is a top 10 CB and if he were a bit more physical he'd go in the top 5. When a CB can lock guys down plus put fear into QBs the game becomes much easier for the other 10 defenders.
2010 Schedule:
Never too early to freak out about next year and looking at this schedule will do that for you. Good grief. I do miss playing 3rd place schedules. Arizona may well be a last place team sans Kurt Warner and Cutler in Chicago is as lost as any QB anywhere but to somehow not play ANY of the 7 or 8 teams expected to be awful is really bad fortune. If the Commanders ever field a Varsity unit the NFCE will be almost unfair just by itself.
