We do rank 3rd on most Power Rankings (save Wilbon and Bayless) but we still get the proverbial, "They're good, BUT they haven't played anyone but the Patriots... and got blown out"...

Well what I wonder is where is all this love for the NYFG?

The NYFG have two losses. An opening day loss to us and a subsequent thrashing the next week by GB.Their last four wins games have been against:

NYJ (1-8)
ATL (2-6)
SF (2-6)
Miami (0-8)

That's a combined record of 5-28. If you subtract the NYFG wins over these teams the adjusted record is 5-24.

Now it's not the NYFG fault as they play who is on their schedule, but why the double standard among the football writers and talking head shows?

Is this a trick question, trickblue? :laugh2:

You, me, and the rest of the world know it's because it's the Dallas Cowboys!

:starspin

I agree they all talk about how much the Giants defense has improved, but realistically they have just played against some of the worse offensive teams in the league, the Jets, 49ers, Falcons and Dolphins. Whose defense wouldnt look good against those teams? The only good offensive teams they played are the Packers and Cowboys who put up 35 and 45 on them.

The fact that they rank the Giants over teams that have better records then them and beat them is just funny to me.

double standards apply to the media apparently

None of that stuff is going to matter come noon on sunday.

I do happen to agree with you though, and Alot of people just hate our organization. SOme hate jerry, some hate irvin, some hate romo, some hate owens, some hate roy williams, some hate jimmy johnson...

for each of them they have a different hangup.

I find wilbon and bayless as great comedy, wilbon saying we havent one a playoff game in 11 years and then pointing to our loss vs the SAINTS last year in the playoffs. Then comparing us to the saints saying look how good they are....last year he never once mentioned about the saints not only never winning playoff games but even making the playoffs.

HIllarious. The hate is written on their face. Pure comedy.

THe nfl as a whole right now is so poor that anyone who uses the who have they played card to judge any team is naive.

and also for what its worth, I record and watch every nfc east game each week. The giants have looked good in the second half of the skins game, the eagles game and for moments against the niners. The rest of the time they look like a team that is lucky the other team can not get out of its own way.

Unlike the eagles last week, I do believe we will see everything they have and I expect them to throw deep on Roy all day. Hopefully, Ware, ellis, hatcher and ratliff will beat the daylights out of dumb face manning.

You can't win with such logic:

PaulC: Why do you think the Giants will beat the Cowboys? Overrated, aren't they? If Dallas was to be considered suspect because of a weak schedule, what do you make of the creampuffs the Giants have played? The Giants look ready to take a big one to their very sizable glass jaw.

Calvin Watkins: You play the schedule. At the start of the season, did you think Chicago and St. Louis would be this bad? Those two teams are a combined 3-13. The Eagles are bad. Did you think that at the start of the year? You play who you play and beat them, which is what both teams have done. The Giants' defense outplays the Cowboys' offense on Sunday, that's why I think Big Blue wins.

There is definitely a double standard and that is the reason I turn my TV on to watch the games five minutes before they start and turn it off or switch it when they're over. Stupidity tends to trump thoughtful analysis as evidenced by the fact that Keyshawn, Wilbon, Bayless and their ilk have jobs.

Remember how just a few weeks ago everyone was calling for Coughlin's head and Tiki was trashing the coach and Eli? Now they are the toast of the conference, according to some.

Let 'em think what they want. When we beat the Giants this week I'm sure the next story will be how we won't be able to beat the Packers. After we beat them, we'll hear about how great the Lions are before that game. Whatever.

easy, as hos would say

"embrace the hate"

I for one am loving it

It's funny how some so-called experts such as Rick Gosselin, Todd Archer, Chris Mortensen and Eric Allen (and Sean Salisbury, although nobody calls him an expert) actually picked the Eagles to beat us, but after we blew them out, the prevailing opinion is that "the Eagles are bad" -- so that win doesn't really count for anything. I suppose we can't even count Donovan McNabb as one of those "real" quarterbacks who were supposed to shred our secondary, huh?

If we finish 15-1, Goose will probably predict that the "first round bye week" will beat us.

what i think is funny, is that the cowboys where supposed to beat chicago to be good, we was supposed to beat the 0-4 rams, we where supposed to beat philly at philly, now is the giants..... they are going to say this all season long.... they talk **** bout the texans for how sorry they are and they talk trash about a 7-1 team, who cares what they say.

No you can't. In fact, on Tuesday morning the Ticket guys were saying that very thing -- "The D looked better, but let's see what they do when they face a real QB this week in New York."

It's ridiculous.

But anyway... In the case of the Giants love, I really feel like it's not a case of being anti-Cowboys, but of pumping up the New York team. If it were, say, Seattle doing the exact same thing, I don't think the media would be touting them so much. IMO Green Bay isn't even getting trumpeted.

I wish they'd rank us 32nd so it would keep a chip on our teams shoulder while we kick rear end under the radar.
