If Shannahan, get's yet another Cowboy player in Bennett. Going in and taking Stephen Bowen last season...I have to believe that he would fit the Commander needs well, and probably starts becoming a reliable receiver as well. Something he had few opportunities to do so far, in Dallas.

If Shanny can teach him to run the correct routes and hang on to ball when it gets there, he good be an excellent receiver. Something that the Cowboys were unable to do.

Last year, they took advantage of that unexpected loophole that allowed teams to dump a lot of salaries without penalty, kind of like 2010. They did it before the CBA was signed, but most teams assumed that exemption would have been eliminated for 2011, so they didn't do it.

However, the exemption ended up still applying, so the Commanders basically lucked out big time, and didn't get hit with a bunch of cap accelerations like everyone thought they would.

Hey Skins fan dude, what do you think of Landry? Would he be a good fit here next to Sensy? Or is he overrated and the injury he is refusing to get fixed to big of a red flag?

That achilles is really a killer. The guy needs surgery. He will be great 1 or 2 games but be below average the rest and then go on IR in November.

The 2010 Landry pre achilles injury was great. Since then you'll more then likely find him on IR as opposed to on the field

Is he overrated? Na, I think he is a damn good player. I would love to keep a healthy Laron Landry. I just don't think he'll ever be the same unless he gets the surgery done, and that will cost him a year

While that looks like a lot of room, they have a ton of FA's and some of these are actually servicable players:

LB London Fletcher, TE Fred Davis, S LaRon Landry, QB Rex Grossman, RB Tim Hightower, DE Adam Carriker, LB Rocky McIntosh, OL Will Montgomery, DE Kedrick Golston, OL Kory Lichtensteiger (restricted), WR Donte Stallworth, OL Sean Locklear

Wouldn't mind seeing the 'Boys take a run at signing Carriker. Would be nice to get a little more pass rush from our ends.

Thanks, based off that I'd def pass then. And I really wasn't high on bringing him in. He really should just get the achilles taken care off. Must be scared to go under the knife or something. He's costing himself big money by not being able to play at his highest level.

I wouldn't be so quick to write him off in DC. This is from ESPN:

"That said, when I met with Commanders coach Mike Shanahan in December, he mentioned Cooley's injury as one of the bad turning points for the Commanders in 2011 and spoke of how much he liked being able to "set the perimeter" on offense with two very good tight ends. So my belief is that he'd like to have Cooley back. And even if the Commanders decide $3.8 million is too much and they need him to restructure, Cooley's kind of all-in with the Commanders and likely would be amenable to such an idea if it meant staying with the team he loves.

"It's a situation worth watching, and anything's possible. But my guess is Cooley comes back to Washington in 2012, even if it's at a lower salary than the one he's currently scheduled to make."

Thats how. There isn't a QB taking up millions of dollars. Bruce Allen cleared out the cap when he got in and used the uncapped year to perfection by moving bonuses of Haynesworth and Hall into 2010.

Really the only name FA that needs to be brought back is Fletcher. Davis will get the franchise tag and the others will be brought back and the right price.

Which means Danny can go make it rain in 3 weeks
