Per Adam Schefter former Cowboys cornerback Terrance Newman officially has agreed to terms with the Bengals.

Best of luck, hopefully he plays some lockdown defense on 3 of the 4 NFC East opponents they face in 2012.

This should ride in the Fan Zone for a while, I'm sure it'll make for some good laughs if it got the proper pub.

Good for him. He's a talented CB if you can afford to limit him to ~750 snaps in a season. More than that, and his legs just don't hold up at this point in his career. I still wonder what our defense would have looked like last year if we'd drafted a Newman/Jenkins replacement somewhere in the second or third round and given him 300 snaps or so to work his way into the nickel this year.

Adam Schefter

Bengals close to a deal with former Cowboys CB Terrance Newman and also exploring a a trade that would send LB Keith Rivers to Giants.

He'll never stay healthy in that division. Congrats to him though.

He better pray he wont have to cover Mike Wallace of Pitt. He'll get shredded.

No it shouldn't. The Fan Zone is for Dallas Cowboys related posts.

Our defense would've looked amazing. We would've won 10+ games.

If he's just getting a one year deal that seems to be a sign that his career is just about over.

One Year, 1.5 mil is my guess.

I doubt he had many suitors, thus not much leverage with the Bungals.

Fun fact, the Bengals invited one other player to visit before the 2003 draft and had they not taken Carson Palmer, Terence Newman would've been their # 1 pick overall.

He's a part-time CB. I'm surprised even the Bengals had room on their roster for him, honestly. Unless the cupboard is really bare at CB, why put in a vet who can only really play half- or two-thirds of a season, at best? Newman showed last year that he can still play at a very high level for a period of time, but he just can't handle the reps of a full NFL season. That's pretty much the definition of a progress-stopper, unless you really have nobody on your roster you're looking to develop.
