This will change some of the cut's tomorrow.

Matt Johnson and Danny Coale to IR?

NFL trading deadline pushed back to the Tuesday after the eighth weekend of season.

Teams now will be allowed to re-activate one player from Reserve/Injured during the 2012 season, subject to certain restrictions.

Wicked, really like that IR change.

Wonder if we IR Matt Johnson now

This should give us an extra roster spot -- I'd expect Johnson to go on the new PuP

IIRC - the rule allow you to PuP someone after they have practiced -- I think you just get one spot

Danny isn't hurt and you can only use it for one player per season.

So this doesn't affect the initial 53 man roster -- it just lets you get an extra spot if a guy is going to be out a while

yea, but who is the judge of "major injury"?? the teams - it does affect the initial 53

edit: my bad, didn't see the date information on the tweet

Darn! Doubtful Johnson's injury can be classified as 'major'

I feel Jenkins, even though cleared to play, should have been left on the PUP. And Johnson put on this IR for now.

Then they could keep Holmes / Coale, and another player for a while longer.

why? so he can be replaced by someone who also wont dress? the guy we would replace his spot with would probably be someone from the practice squad, so why not just keep him there? That PS guy would have already cleared waivers, so what is the point?

we need to hold on to this exemption and use it if we have a major contributor go down for an extended period

No, you couldn't because you have to cut down to 53 before you can use the new IR.

NFL drop its request for added padded practices. Also, the three-day rule is abolished for next year. Players can practice right away again.

The three-day rule this year was a problem for clubs, keeping newly signed players out of pads. Win for both sides to have that gone now.

... But, again, union held its ground on the padded practice rules, and those won't change.
