Suppose the safety franchised doesn't come around or gets belligerent about playing at all. If Henry can take over his spot and the corner positions are adequately covered, he could be released, saving 4M, with Watkins and Brown there for backup.

Might that not work?

:)
I think Hamlin would last 8.5 minutes playing free safety.

Then he'd be back on the sideline.

He's not built for that kind of contact. Situationally, when he can roam centerfield, sure, that's great. Every down? No way.

Anything is possible but Hamlin would be stupid to sit rather than play for $4M.

Absolutely there could be a package where we play him as a kind of safety.

But there will never come a time when Henry is a starting safety for us. It just won't. People should have come to realize that 2-3 years ago.

Ken Hamlin gets hurt and possibly Watkins. You don't see any chance that Dallas moves Henry to the position and starts? I disagree. And as for my scenario, it could happen in two plays in training camp.

I think he's lasted 17 regular season and post season games so far playing that position. Where would you have him play?

There are any number of situations we could throw out there where Anthony Henry could be forced into duty at FS.

But I don't believe there is any situation where we willingly try to play him as an every down free safety.

He gets groin and ankle type injuries and not stuff like seperated shoulders bruised ribs etc. I think his injuries have more to do with him being built for speed to the maximum capacity his body can take and then going balls out on it.

He sticks his nose in there and doesn't come out gimping like Julius used to do time after time.

Also as the mickel safety it would reduce his plays significantly which would be good because it might keep him out there for 16 games and effective.

Well it is good news if Jenkins is doing well.

However it is still early. Just as it was silly for people to be wigging out because of Jenkins first day struggles, it might be a little early to put all the eggs into his basket after a few more days.

Let's hope he turns into a stud for us, I just want to see/hear a little more before I get too overjoyed.

:starspin I feel the same way. While I'm happy to hear this type of info. on Jenkins, I am not going to get my hopes up too high 'til I see/hear more of him once the pads are on.

I hope you meant HENRY, not HAMLIN b/c Hammer's been a safety his whole career! Besides, they're built the same so what makes you think Henry couldn't handle playing FS? Most of his injuries seem to be sprains and pulls not concussions or anything linked to his physicality or lack of it.

Hmmm..

Oops. Supposed to say Henry.

Judging by this posts and after conducting several interviews with experts and key witnesses, I think its possible he did mean Henry.

Still waiting on the DNA evidence though....

Everything I've heard is that Jenkins is working behind Newman at left corner while Pacman is playing behind Henry on the right.

Problem with trading Roy is who would really want him?

As regards Henry playing FS, I think that the days of having two safeties is gone now. I think you will have one Safety whose primary responsibility is both run support and middle area patroling, and 3 CBs who will be working the recievers. That is on standard offensive formations with 2 WRs and 1 TE. When the offense goes to 3 WRs we will go to 4 CBs and 1 Safety dropping 1 LB and having a 4 man rush. You would then have 2 LBs playing with Ware, Ellis, Spencer, and maybe Hatcher as the 4 down linemen with Thomas and maybe Burnett as the LBs. Maybe if he does better it would be 1 LB plus Roy.
