Schottenheimer: Blue has to be more consistent to play in games

Translate.......stop relying on your speed and athleticism. Work hard, know your plays and assignments when called. This is stopping just short of calling out Blue's character and work ethic.
It might also explain how/why all that speed couldn't earn more than a handful of carries over 2/3 years in college.

And don't think for a second this is Blue's first time hearing this......my guess is his position coach shared their concerns with him.

Maybe he is often time lining up in the wrong place pre-snap and ending up in the wrong location post snap. Aka maybe not pass blocking correctly. He will hopefully get better with time.

Some players perform better on game day than in practice, the reverse is true too. Throw him out there and see what happens, it is not like it is an already established RB room.
This. I don't see why he should be loosing snaps over Sanders who might not be signed by another team if we let him go. But maybe right now Sanders is better than Blue and Schotty is just playing the best players to give the team it's best chance to win games.

Oh well. Get used to the Williams-Sanders tandem for the foreseeable future...

Honestly ..... It could certainly be some of this but it's expected from a rookie. I don't they are seeing the work ethic or commitment ( staying late, putting in extra hours and learning from the vets). Either way....it sounds like he's in Schotty's dog house for now.

Schotty did say the inactive guys have the opportunity to possibly get on the field next game with consistent effort in practice.

Those reports before TC about Blue's work ethic aren't looking so erroneous right now. I thought it was the ankle, but this is a character (possible immaturity) deal, which, is concerning.

I think this stance by Schotty goes for Mazi too, and just like Blue, Mazi needs to get right and get on the field. Toia needs a lot of seasoning.

Lastly, how does Schotty handle Pickens n Tolbert loafing on blocks and in some cases routes? If guys have to sit out because of practice effort, how is lack of effort in the game addressed?

Remember all the super fans that came out to blindly denounce the insider* who effectively said as much about Blue during training camp?

*Dane Bruglar also said similar things in his pre draft write up about Blue.

...consistent! .. how? I mean, he hasn't played a game. Where is that coming from, pre season?

Or is he "lazy" like that former employee says he got word of from the inside? Hmmmm.
Very possible.......sounds like he could be one of those kids who care more about the popularity ( girls, nice things, and money ) than working hard to be the best he can be. Keep in mind this is all part of what they see, not just in practice, but in classrooms and film study. Imagine being in film study, playing with your cellphone while the position coach is explaining certain assignments and/or plays. He calls you to the board and you can't answer routine questions about your assignments or responsibility on certain plays.
