I certainly like the talk, but we've heard McCarthy talk a good game and do the opposite. Shotty is a guy I believe will do what he says. The coaching hires is what I like about this team, as I believe they finally got some guys that can develop these young players. No predictions, but a wait n see approach, however, I like the start of his tenure and let's see how this draft shakes out.

Give jerry time and he will ruin it and them. He did it tonparcells who had one of the strongest personalities and record...schotty will be mush by next year

I like the Schotty hire more today than I did the day he was hired. Now, if week 1 Dak throws the ball 40 times we'll know our head coach lied to us.

Or maybe it will be because they are down by 20 points, and must pass.

Its his schtick. Its also all about Dak with him. He actually doesn't understand football and stays away from any actual football talk. all he cares about is the drama as he himself admitted to it. When Dak goes he will disappear in a puff of smoke.

Oh and he really cares about all the likes he gets. He admitted to that too. I gave him like a 1000 so he would be happy.

This team has been testing our patience since the VCR era. Maybe.....just maybe.....after 30 years of the same results, some of us have every right to be skeptical. There's no real evidence that this hire is the one to turn things around. We're allowed to judge it accordingly until proven otherwise.

Well said. And I believe in being loyal as a fan. I’ve seen Cowboys home games in the Cotton Bowl, TX Stadium and the Deathstar. So I’ve stuck around for it all and still remain someone who wants the Cowboys to win, especially a championship. That will ALWAYS be the bottom line for me.

But I completely understand why any fan of this team is tired of being asked to be patient. Thirty years is a long time to watch the same guy - now the oldest GM in NFL history - be incapable of building a roster that can even win a divisional playoff game.

I can appreciate the fans perspective who wave Pom-poms and see green grass every season. That’s their right. But I don’t appreciate any fan telling another fan that cheerleading and blind homer-ism is the only acceptable way to be a Cowboys fan.

I neither love nor hate the Schotty hire. As a fan of the Cowboys, I want him to succeed. If I’m being as objective as I can, I have serious doubts about him (or any HC) succeeding here, as the previous 6 head coaches before him have 4 wild card wins between them.

But he deserves a chance to prove himself. I will wish him well and hope for the best. Not putting any money down on his success though, lol.

Agreed. He really has no shot without the horses. Many better than him have failed in those cases.

But…he is going to get a HC salary for a few years when no one else even wanted to interview him, so he is ahead of the game, but he has no real chance given the approach of this front office. If we want to get into the very likely imminent severe physical decline/limitation of the QB, I suppose that’ll be a factor as well.

I've been a big Schotty supporter since he was hired, but he has to prove he is serious about this too. McCarthy talked up the run game pretty hard while he was here. Schotty had an awesome run game in Seattle but got pass happy.

I really hope this team does become truly run first on offense, but they have to prove it first. They also need to get the guys in here to make that a reality too. I have some serious concerns about the OL and their ability to really be that dominant front you need to play smash mouth football for four quarters.

I’ve been pretty lukewarm on everything Cowboys since they have decided to back up the Brinks truck for Dak. Can’t remember being this negative about the Cowboys ever. But the more that I look at the Schotty hire, the more I wonder if he might have actually been a really solid hire.

Dak sucks. Actually Dak sucks really bad. But if Schotty builds a running attack like his dad did, then Dak can pretty much just hand off the ball, looks stupid, collect his checks, smoke cigarettes on the sidelines and talk about all the wins in which he wasn’t really a factor.

MM talked big about the running game no matter where he’s been but his offenses were all based on the WCO or TCO as it was called here. He just paid lip service to the running game. Shotty has a different belief.

A strong running attack is a pipe dream. The defense is so bad, they'll be playing from behind most of the time. Then you have an OL with two good players and the two worst tackles in the game.. Dak will be passing 45 times a game..Dream on..
