I don't know that he'll play slot ONLY, but I'd argue that it probably is the best use of his skills — He's a hybrid — Playing the slot allows him to play close to the line of scrimmage where he can play multiple roles.

Im willing to give Hooker a look in a new system. Maybe he wasnt used correctly last season. I believe if hooker didn't fit, he wouldn't be here. He would have been gone just like Osa and others, after Parker got here.

If the coaches can see things that i cant, then I cant say much.

I didn't expect Locke to play a lot other than on special teams. Of course, he might not as a co-starter depending on the package.

I just think No-Schott wants to call them all starters. You get to start! You get to start! You all get to start!

Locke's value is going to be his ability to be redundant with both Downs and Thompson. I'm sure there's specific packages that he'll play where Hooker won't because he can play slot.

Hooker and Locke don't really play the same position. It's like comparing a NT to a 3T. They're both defensive tackles, but do very different things.

Is it not better to have him focus and excel at 1 position? Not saying you can’t move him around, but having him do - let’s say - 50% as slot and 50% at safety doesn’t seem conducive to progress.

A major part of CPs Defense is post snap movement. Having no defined position for Downs helps to keep the offense guessing where he will end up being.

Hooker has had the oddest career. He used to be a playmaker that could not stay on the field. Now he is reliable, yet is just kind of there with regard to having an impact.

I wonder if he made a conscious choice in style of play. Either way I’m happy he is here. The depth is finally not all that bad at nearly every position. The rosters of late have been way too top heavy.
