Schottenheimer OTA press conference notes

Wow, there is competition for starting LT, nice.

I think this says Dallas will keep four tackles, Guyton, Steele, Thomas, and Shelton.

When Shelton was drafted I felt like Dallas was moving on from Thomas. That they view Thomas as a starting caliber LT, I believe this is not an option anymore.
Didn't see Thomas going anywhere because we let Adiniji walk and he was our swing tackle. Shelton's a fourth-round rookie and we need to see what we've got in Cornelius, who could be a backup at RT and G.

Injuries usually settle this, but thinking they don’t need a veteran swing somewhere along the line would be very shortsighted.

"Rashan Gary is a grown *** man,” according to HC Brian Schottenheimer.

He says he’s been blown away with his professionalism and leadership.

He points out it’s EZ’s second year.

He was asked if Cowboys are satisfied with their pass rush given this week’s moves and says the best pass rushing teams they face “don’t necessarily have one guy. It’s easier to shut one guy down.”

Well, we don't know if we have one guy ... so I guess we have that going for us.

The BS he's using to justify the pass rush is the same that they used when we didn't need a lead WR. We'd just do it by committee.
Yeah, if you don't have one guy, that often means you have no guys.

Ready to start TC on PUP.
It is what this team does, when they say will be ready for start of TC.
Usually it's the active-PUP list meaning they will be eligible to practice at anytime without a roster move being made.

Having said that it's better to be careful. Especially with Bland whose foot issues are on the verge of being chronic at this point.

So on it's surface it sounds great but when you feel the need to throw in "we like what Guyton has done so far" it reads as the same old same old lip service and teh handing of a starting job to the 1st round draft pick no matter how he plays...again...

Talks about professionalism and then says he's a grown *** man.
Quite a professional way of saying he's mature.

Possibly. I believe they think Thomas can be the veteran swing now. Usually, we've been pretty good about bringing one in when we don't think we have the depth for it (Adeniji last year, Edoga the previous couple of years, Jason Peters for a year, Ty Nsekhe and Cam Irving before that).
