Not committing one ridiculous penalty after another would be a huge improvement. He led the league in OL penalties, in spite of sitting out half the snaps.

Playing a new position in the nfl it was kinda expected. He had 14 penalties, smith had 11 his first year and he had played LT a lot in college. If he can cut that in half that’s huge. Tunsil who has been in the league some time had one less penalty

I thought he played better late. But I didn’t expect greatness from a rookie playing a different side in the nfl. Technique and strength is key. I’m sure he added some strength and a year of reps should improve his technique. I think Beebe is gonna be better too. Reps are key

Well you're not the only one to suggest that, but I simply don't understand why we think Guyton played better later in the year. When you're losing snaps to Chuma Edoga its typically a sign that he didn't play well. I do agree that another year to let him get stronger should help. My bigger concern with Guyton is simply that he looked slow to recognize what defenders were doing to him. Hes got to be able to process the game quicker. Some guys that switch can flip on with reps, other guys its like it never quite happens.

Guyton had 18 penalties in 668 snaps.

Smith had 15 penalties in 1274 snaps.

Huge difference when you factor in playing time. In theory Guyton could cut down his penalty rate in half and still get 18 on the season because he missed about half the teams snaps in 2024.

I think with his body type......he's gonna have issues getting stronger. He looks more like a basketball player....I think we are always going to be asking for him to get stronger...doesn't mean he can't have success though.

I doubt he’ll ever be a ‘powerful’ left tackle, but I’ll settle for strong enough.

I think I now know why he never did the bench press on record.

They did the same thing last May and the. Backtracked once the season progressed. The only ones who keeps it real with the olinemen who opinion I take serious is Nate Newton. He was the only one last summer who was critical or suspect of Guytons performance/technical craft.
