Video: Schottenheimer Press Conference

I think the OC was brought in to run his scheme. Schotty doesn't have a scheme from this decade.

Guy hasn't run a top 5 offense in his career. So I actually hope its Adams and not Schotty to be honest.
He's had the top-ranked rushing offense a few times and No. 1 red zone offense at least once. In his last stop before coming here, he had the sixth-, ninth and eighth-ranked scoring offenses in Seattle, but yeah, not top five. Those teams were top 10 in rushing and red zone but in the teens in or lower in passing yards and third-down efficiency. It will be interesting to see what Adams is allowed to add to the mix.

This is correct. He's like the kid who gets admitted to a top university because his dad in the oil business donates to the school. So-called legacy admissions.

He wouldn't have the job if his last name wasn't Shottenheimer.

That said, I'm gonna give him a shot before I ream him too hard.

Shotty is using the mental mindset aspect of what it takes to enstill a belief in what we are doing to win. Speaking it into existence, unafraid to go there .

Schotty is well spoken and sounds like a nice guy, maybe too nice. He says all the right things but doesn’t sound like someone real demanding. He doesn’t sound like the type of coach that’s going to build a tough, physical team. Listening to him doesn’t fire me up.

He's not afraid to say he wants us to be the best in the league. That's a lot better than the standard "Well, we're taking it one day at a time." type of talk
It's the same thing every new coach says everywhere.

You put this guy in a time machine and make him the head coach of last years team, do we win a single game more? No

We need better players, we need a GM, and we need a new culture (which will never happen with our current "GM")

Everything else is a waste

Great job reading a speech from a paper though and answering rehearsed questions. I'm sure that will help come Novembe, December and January

So I really wanted him gone after last season, and now he's the HC. We'll see I guess. I will say I enjoyed the press conference, and he seems smarter than MM for what it's worth. Though not holding my breath. He was a mediocre journeyman. Fingers crossed he somehow makes a better HC.
MM was playing a character. All schtick.

What's that got to do with this season?
New head coaches to a team, particularly first time head coaches, tend to start making progress when they have a quarterback they select to be their QB1.

Is Schottenheimer going to spend his first season as HC adapting to his QB1 or is his 10th year QB1 going to adapt to him. Fair question. Either way this is not a Super Bowl year for Dallas. In light of the Cowboys’ division and schedule, the playoffs are very unlikely.
