Schottenheimer starts off OTA with some paintball

So, first we got a ping pong table. And then paintball. When is the team going bowling?? :muttley:
They have another OTA, and a mini camp yet so maybe one of those weeks.
I have a bar they can all come sing karaoke at. That can build team chemistry.

Marquisse King, former punter from the Raiders, now with the Arlington Renegades, was in there a few weeks ago singing.
Doing some of his own R&B type music. I wasn't there, but seen part of a video the bartender had. He was pretty good.
She told me he was there, but it was late, and I didn't want to get out of bed.

I can’t wait for the thematic t-shirt this year. What should it say?
  • “30 years…it’s time”
  • “Fight! This time we mean it”
  • “Mojo Paintball Team”
  • “We Dem Hawt Boyzzzzzzzzzzzzz”
  • “#1 in Revenue”
We the Defense .. formerly known as the Hot Boyz ...

I mean, this is a cheap gimmick attempting to build culture. It's play stuff. Not serious. Slacker mentality, like McCarthy smashing watermelons.

How does this impact their GameDay performances. This is truly stupid. They can all do this in the Dak yard, or whatever else
Post #13 said it well. The only thing I'd add is, not everyone is even there so I really don't see how this is detrimental. Tyler Smith thought it was great. You saying he got bamboozled by not seeing through this "cheap gimmick" as you call it?

Cowboys Pro Bowl LG Tyler Smith said new head coach Brian Schottenheimer took the team to play paintball on the first day of optional team activities. “I thought that was a crazy thing. That’s never happened before. I thought that was really cool to start things off on a fun note. … The guys were going crazy. It was fun.”
Let's remind Smith of this when we lose this year. Especially if they have a losing season.

Was playing paintball still really cool? Are you still having fun Tyler???

It build camaraderie with the players.
Why do you have a hard time with them doing this.

It unites players. It does not need to be on the field all the time. It is like fans thinking a player needs to be in the film room or on the field constantly, and have no life or personal time.
I concur my comment below is all in fun.

It's otas these are mostly young men let them compete in other ways and blow off some steam especially with all the negativity surrounding the team from last year

Me and Micah Parsons brother got into a debate yesterday on Twitter

OK, this is getting ridiculous.

So, this is his schtick now? Gimmicks?

Any player with a brain sees through this.
No gimmicks. It’s called leadership. In the military, we PT’d 3 - 5 days a week. We’d do the daily 7 for warmup and then go on a formation run or force march. That gets old so once a week we’d do an oraganized team activity instead like Ultimate football, or Soccer etc. It broke up the daily monotony and guys really had fun with it. It garnered more team chemistry and brought guys closer together.

Now it can’t be all fun and games as you have to maintain discipline but those Ultimate football games did a lot to maintain unit morale as well as improving physical condition. It was a great break.
