Schottenheimer starts off OTA with some paintball

I can't. First paintball. Next he'll start clapping and slapping butts.

We've had this before
Damn I like this side of you lol, I've said it before, all this culture stuff sounds good but what we need is the mental toughness to fight when times are hard in games, stopping the run, blocking etc. Team fun isn't going to help that, my bad Terrence Parsons seems to think it will lol

I mean, by all means, have fun together. I'm all for comradary. But you're setting the tone for future practices here. We thought TC was Camp Cupcake before. Looks like Schotty is rolling out Camp Cupcake 2.0.

I'm not trying to cut a new HC slack because he rolls out some gimmick while talking about a culture change.

Actions are louder

Smart idea again by Shotty IMO. Amp up the competition while at same time building up the camaraderie. Team will be better, if players are not fighting just for themselves but for their teammates as well. It's not anywhere near July so don't see a problem with it.

They have another OTA, and a mini camp yet so maybe one of those weeks.
I have a bar they can all come sing karaoke at. That can build team chemistry.

Marquisse King, former punter from the Raiders, now with the Arlington Renegades, was in there a few weeks ago singing.
Doing some of his own R&B type music. I wasn't there, but seen part of a video the bartender had. He was pretty good.
She told me he was there, but it was late, and I didn't want to get out of bed.
Have you ever been to the Elephant Room?

Company I worked at for 25 years did this stuff on the regular.

What I observed was, it can have a positive effect on some and a negative effect on others. The problem was, the people it doesn't work on are the very people you actually want working for you. Those that buy into this psycho candy are the types you have to work around instead of work with. Generally speaking of course.

Critical thinkers and problem solvers see right through these phony attempts at "team building". I never saw it actually produce overall positive results.

At least we got the afternoon off to go outside and play from time to time.

I remember thinking while we were getting molested by the Packers in the last playoff game...."if these guys only had a closer relationship with one another".
Yes, it is proven closer relations on the field reduces your yards per carry on defense by 1.5 yards.

Yeah, but huge corporations pay absurd amounts of money doing this kind of thing…so apparently it has some value. I think it can be used effectively to see how people react…give you better insight into who your dogs are, who might be able to devise winning strategy, and who is just along for the ride. You might be able to see who works better as a team or partners. I do think it is a better team builder than going to Sea World.

The other thing is these OTAs are so limited as far as physicality goes, I doubt a day of paintball is going to set the team back.
Corporations do these employee team building events often for tax deductions. I've worked at Dell, Apple, and various others that do this stuff.

Companies have gimmicks too.

For tax deductions?!! Now the truth comes out. :lmao:

Cowboys Pro Bowl LG Tyler Smith said new head coach Brian Schottenheimer took the team to play paintball on the first day of optional team activities. “I thought that was a crazy thing. That’s never happened before. I thought that was really cool to start things off on a fun note. … The guys were going crazy. It was fun.”

Who was the best?

“Markquese Bell. Oh my God. Oh my God. Markquese Bell could probably go to SEAL Team 6. I’m not gonna lie, the way he be paintballing, Bell, for sure.”

Some people will complain about anything just to complain. This is a whole new regime except Jerry and Steven so let’s let it play out even though it will probably be the same one and done in the playoffs, but who knows I hope I’m wrong.

Oh, it is double standards on here.
Others teams do it, it is great. Dallas does it, it is stupid.

Just like Jerry. He does something it is stupid. Another team does it, it is genius.
