My favourite part about this argument is, y’all keep bringing up Dak changing the plays. The only time that was brought up in the media was after the Tampa game in 2021 when Dak has arguably the best game of his career.

So if he was changing the plays, and then had the best game of his career. What does that say about the plays? Or the coordinator?
Also, how the heck could any of us really know what plays are changed? Additionally, QB’s are given multiple plays and told to pick the one that corresponds with the right look. His “audible” could simply be calling the play at the line.

This topic is so strange to me. How could any of us claim we know literally jack squat about the audibles, what they are, and what’s being instructed. Senseless and baseless statements made every day about this lol.

Kinda like the guys who guarantee they know more than the highly compensated professionals immersed in it for a living!

Funny you should mention Romo and Prescott as I was just reading this:

"Romo was pretty bad at manufacturing controversy for as often as he seemed to be at the center of it. He couldn’t even make last season’s Dak Prescott conundrum all that interesting. When he was finally healthy to return last season — in the midst of the rookie’s breakout — Romo ended any debate with one of the most heartbreaking, honest, and gracious statements an athlete can make in that situation, beginning with the admission that Prescott “earned the right to be our quarterback.”

Romo eased Prescott into a full-time starter’s role then stepped away from the game completely, assuring that a ROMO V. PRESCOTT GRUDGE MATCH won’t take place in 2017. And to make it easier for everyone, he gave no big statement or press conference."

I don't quite get the controversy or uncertainty...other than manufactured. Not saying YOU you....just in general.

Fur sure, I found what Romo said then to be a great thing. I only mentioned Romo because I was laying out who the QBs were in the room to set the stage for my point on Mark Sanchez and Schotty.

Schotty’s job is going to be to employ his zone run scheme that’s worked well everyone he’s been. His downfall is his over-reliance on it when he calls plays.

Mike’s WCO background is actually a great fit for what Schotty’s run game does, probably why he brought him on staff and elevated him when Moore left. For all that Moore did well, one of his weaknesses was his ultra-bland run scheme (outside of a few gimmicks and tricks). We get that fixed then our efficiency in the run game will be through the roof.

If Mike can call the game right then we could be cookin.
Good observations.
As a play caller , Brian leans on his dad Marty who was conservative play caller .

Again if Big Mac get help from Brian and Mark solari to get the run game going ( especially in tougher games ) that will be shot in the arm , I believe Big Mac will simplify the game for Dak , to get WRs open in short routes and try YAC , so it will be slow plowing to get the ball moved and score. Hope the guys are patient and play within the system and not freelance.

what this will give is rest for Def. In both play off games last year D played very well and in Tampa bay offense kept up , whereas in SF offense coughed up the ball also couldnt score , neither gave rest to D .

Hope this year is different ( better) , fingers crossed.

Dak would either blossom or fail miserable under my watch.

I am not saying he does change the plays. I'm saying he shouldn't. Throwing less is the only way to success with 4

Possible
But I don’t think there will be as much change as some think. Will we run more? Maybe but not a significant amount different. Running the football is about moving the chains. If you want to run more you have to run effectively. Otherwise you end up in 3rd and long all day
I think play calling will be less disjointed. Play calling needs to be a part of a plan and not just calling random plays. Play calling can setup other plays. Sometimes play calling is just about seeing what the D does to counter
I think we will see a better plan around play calling but we will still pass more than we run in most games because it’s hard to run 10-12 play drives all day and not get a penalty, or a negative play. Effective running opens up play action and lamb with cook can thrive on play action
I expect the run/ pass mix to be fairly similar and the explosive plays to be more effective than last year because of better play calling

We will see intelligent play calling. We will see better in-game awareness and situational football play calling.

That's something Kellen Moore wasn't intelligent enough to do here.

For such a boring and conservative coordinator, is it not strange that Russ Wilson had his three best statistical seasons under Schottenheimer? The man has produced results when given adequate talent to work with. This year's Dallas team may be the best he's seen. Couple that with McCarthy calling plays and I'm thinking that we're going to see a tough, multi-level offense that keeps defenses guessing and keeps our defense fresh.

Exactly, and it doesn't have to be pretty, as long as it works.

The last series of his career was against the Eagles b team….he had 3 passes for 29 yards. :lmao:
I don’t remember the exact stats I can look them up what do remember is McFadden was more responsible than anything Romo did against the eagles 2nd stringers

He took a dump off pass bout 20 yards and had a decent run. Romo was aided by 30 yard interference call on dez

I remember 2 decent passes to Williams 1 for the TD. I guess that’s what you refer to as carving up these days

You say things like this and expect people to take you seriously.

I didnt; even say he had jaw dropping stats. You need to a reading comprehension refresh.

On second thought...you probably don't. Your goal isn't to discuss what people actually say...but fight on the internet. Pathetic really. Sad life.

Again.....I didn't say Romo had heroic carvings. Did you actually READ what I wrote.

He did call the plays, run the offense...and look healthy. RIght? I mean really...is that correctr or not? THAT is all I said.

Come on man. Stop this exaggeration just to help your agenda. Marathon I get...but coming from you...not what I would expect.

I have been reading what you say about him for a long time. You have used damn near those exact words in other threads ( carved them up) and you have said healthy enough to play

You have for the better part of 4 plus years used that drive as an argument that TR should have been put back in

Really he didn’t do anything that Dak couldn’t have done twice over

We get you we’re disappointed and in hindsight maybe you were right maybe you werent. Veteran leadership may have helped but then again it didn’t help in 14 with a better team

I get why they elected to go with Dak but I’m also not big Romo fan admittedly

He was a FA that would have made a nice story had he made it to the SB. I just have a hard time getting over the multiple play in games that he was a part of blowing

We’re they all his fault nope but neither has Dak been at complete fault

I'm just asking you to be honest with what I say. Not embellish it to try to make me look foolish.

I don;t need any extra help with that. :)

Never said he "carved 'em up" I said he drove the team down and looked good doing it, obscene stats or not, helpful penalties...whatever....you take the team down and score. THEN....oddly pulled right quick. Weird.
