“[Jaydon Blue] is a young back learning the speed of the game and the physicality of the game. But to me, I'm always going to go back to the consistency. You can't put the ball on the ground. You have to be on top of your blitz pick ups. You have to do those things. The big thing I've told him about is you've got the perfect guy sitting right to your left, in Javonte, to learn from -- who was you a couple of years ago as a young rookie trying to figure it out. Lean on him. Javonte does everything right and so Jaydon's doing that, but again, I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about Malik Davis and the job he's doing for us. We're all about creating competition. It's not just creating competition on the defensive side of the ball for jobs and who's going to play. It's on offense as well and that would be another battle to watch.”

Brian Schottenheimer has the face of your doctor, who is telling you it is time for your prostate exam.

Fumbling is the only thing keeping Jaydon Blue from being the unquestioned number two back. He should unlearn what he has learned up to this point in his football life and understand how to secure the ball more consistently.

where the heck is that big bad mafah phil????!!!!!!!!! we don't want davis as RB2!
On injured reserve, and as a 7th round rookie was never really guaranteed anyway. Blue and Davis are the options.

I actually like Davis - or at least did when he got some playing time back in 2022. Granted he isn't ideal, and certainly not who you want thrust into full time duty if the starter goes out, but he runs hard and keeps his legs moving and generally makes positive plays, albeit not really "big plays". So far Blue hasn't impressed much, so i understand Davis at least being in the backup mix. Luepke could also get a few more carries.

I swear, this response is straight out of the Shabazz vernacular playbook.

By 2026 you'll be using "Chlamydia" in a thread to expound on the lack of turnovers being discussed at some point.

I've liked Malik Davis from the time he arrived in Frisco, up until now. I believe he's our best bet to be our number 2 back at this juncture. Blue and Mafah are also obliged to make the grade in Schotty's eyes. He sees them on a daily basis and should know what's what. Whoever wins the #2 spot in the future, will most likely have earned that honor. I'm really anxious to see which RB it will be.

Or maybe Jerry should stop drafting players with various issues in college such as fumbling, character problems, and injury histories. Then we could just suit them up and get them work rather than hoping they can unlearn their bad habits.

He also mentioned blitz pick ups, so it looks like that’s still a big problem with Blue

Maybe if he threatened him with a prostate exam every time he fumbled or missed a blitz. That would sure as heck work with me.

mine too, as he's stretching his glove all the way up to his shoulder

I hope they don't give up on Blue. He has some learning to do but I think it would be a bad idea to bench him completely. Keep giving him a few reps a game and let him figure it out.

Such is life for a young player already on this ice. Obviously if he were a stud, the coaches tend to overlook some things you may be doing wrong. But if you're not, you dont have that luxury. Oh well, I guess Davis is next man up.

Battle? More like a war! When you have that kind of talent, who knows who is going to come on top. I mean you've got Jaydon Blue and then you've got well....

Who is he fooling, we have no competition on the defensive side of the ball.
