Schotty: I expect to see Parsons at mandatory minicamp

He’s currently set to earn $24.007 million fully guaranteed on his fifth-year option in 2025. But with Myles Garrett breaking new ground with a $40 million per year deal and T.J. Watt also in line for a new contract, it would likely behoove the Cowboys to get Parsons under a new long-term deal sooner rather than later.
I'm sure Jones is all over this!

Pretty sure Parsons has no intention of playing a full season on the 5th year option.........

Quick question.......does anyone know if the rules of players sitting out X number of games and then reporting to preserve free agent status is still part of the current CBA? In other words, can Parsons sit X number of games, report and play X number of games and still become a 2026 free agent?

Yes....Id have to look up the exact number, but I think they only have to be active for 6 games to receive credit for an accrued season. You might want to check my work on 6 weeks, I'm guessing a little bit about the exact number.

The only quirky thing for Parsons, and I could be wrong here, but I believe the league changed the rules to make it impossible to forgive fines once he starts missing mandatory practices.

No different than anything else. I’ll let you know when it happens.

That's not how it works, DNA Kid #1.

There is nothing wrong with someone working to inform the public of information they are seeking. You are the freaking Chief Operating Officer of the franchise and a co-owner on top of that. If anyone knows, it would be you.

People should continue asking you relevant questions like this as often as needed. You have the complete right to answer 'no comment' or something similar. No one should be discouraged in asking important questions simply because you do not know yet and feel pestered.

You are exactly right here........read this more than a few times, BUT as one agent said.....there are 'other ways'

Everyone needs to stop beeching and moaning about Micah's contract. We already know when Jerry will make the announcement - September 4, right before the first game.

Jerry thinks he is stealing headlines by doing things this way, so it would be hilarious if Jerry made his announcement and everyone ignored him.

Speaking of publicity, it wouldn't surprise if Jerry, Stephen, or both of them told Micah to skip workouts so the team would stay in the news. Keep everyone wondering and speculating like they did last season.

Well, he’s there today so he must have missed Jerry’s call.

As you said Hawk, “it would likely behoove the Cowboys to get Parsons under a new long-term deal”.

But our GM? Apparently he does what “behooves” himself, not the team.
