I’m not defending them, just stating facts. They don’t care whether Allen is stuck or not — he got more money, his contract is technically bigger, and it wasn’t far off from Watson’s. Watson basically took money from the Browns without producing, while someone like Prescott has at least earned his pay with individual stats that show they could have won with a better team around him. That’s not defending anyone; it’s simply not a bad contract. Call it what you want, but the Cowboys aren’t being held back by it — they have plenty of money. I’m tired of hearing about these “huge” contracts like it’s a big deal for fans. It’s not. They have the resources to build a team, so if you want to blame someone, blame Jerry for not doing it while Prescott is still young and in his prime. He’s still got something left, but they may not re-sign him, and I’m not worried about the next contract. Right now, his deal isn’t stopping the Cowboys from doing anything.

All the nonsense with Russell Wilson and Watson—first, they trade for them, then hand them massive contracts before they even play a single snap, and in the end, they do nothing for those franchises. That’s the debate here: they were given all that money, and what did they do? Not much. At least one of them earned his paycheck—he didn’t fall off a cliff, and last year was one of his best seasons as a pro. Whether you want to argue it or not, he’s still playing well enough to win, not just taking money from the team. We could go over other examples if you want.

Let’s focus on the present—I don’t care about when he signed it or how much it was. What I know now is that Allen is making more, and Watson made almost the same, but these quarterback contracts aren’t being lived up to at all. They’re not giving anything back.

There have been plenty of worse contracts, not just at quarterback, and this isn’t one of them.

They got ahead of the curve, thinking the market would keep climbing. There’s a quarterback making more—Josh Allen—and Watson’s deal was nearly the same, yet he did nothing but stay injured and in the news. At least we have a guy here with high character, solid leadership, and coming off one of his best seasons. Focus on the present; it doesn’t matter what he’s making when it’s not holding the Cowboys back.

martin was supposed to be this high character guy threatened to hold out made a big deal out of needing more money after he finally got paid and they caved he played one season and not a very good one and then retired just left stole all that bonus money it took off and you want to get on a guy who's at quarterback who touches the ball on every play who had one of his best years and you want to keep bringing up Prescott,

Nah get past it.

Pointing out other NFL quarterbacks are paid as much or more than Prescott, most of which, like Dak, have not won a Super Bowl is not real encouraging. Cleveland regrets the deal they made for Watson. Denver regrets the deal they made for Wilson. Dallas has little to show for the deal they with Prescott and a lot more yet to pay him.
