here's the deal. Based on 30 years of watching Jed and Jethro comfort shop for coaches, we have zero faith in their decision making, hence zero faith in you. Most of us believe you will be a 500 coach that makes Jerry feel good because you're a nice guy. We think, like Wade, the team will just continue to become softer and softer, less and less disciplined with each passing week.

But here's the beauty, you have the ability to prove us all wrong. Run a tight ship, have the "guts" to tell Jerry to stay out of the locker room. Your dad always had tough nose teams, he just seemed to get too conservative in big games. Learn from that. Practice what you've been saying about bringing the offense into this century. Make a great running game P1. Nothing is a better help to a QB and even a defense than a reliable run game.

Love to be proven wrong. But history is not on your side.

Didn't I just make a post about this yesterday where coaches need to STAND up to Jerry!! I agree man, this is what needs to happen, if you hired me, let me do my job, stay out of my locker. If you tell my players what to do, i'm going to go against what you told them, and I'm going to do it my way! If you fire me, fire me!!! I'll let the other teams know why I got fired! They'll understand!! (It's hard working in those conditions!)

Don't know what you posted.
But yeah, we can all doubt as much as we want, it's still up to him to shut us up. I kind of feel bad for the guy who is getting his dream job and the whole world is calling him a bum. Hope he gets the last laugh.

The NFL is a results based business. If Schotty gets this team to the playoffs next year and wait for it…even wins a game…things will be looking up.

And I 100% agree that Schottenheimer SHOULD stand up to JJ and run this team like 31 other NFL HCs with full control of the locker room. He SHOULD dare Jerry to fire him by doing things his own way as a coach. But is anyone seriously thinking he’s going to do that? If he did, he would already gain lots of respect regardless of success rate.

That’s the big opportunity Schotty has. But the chances of it happening as we wish are twofold: slim and none.

Unfortunately I agree. But I also say, you are what you are, until you're something else. Hope he makes them something else. But I would not bet on it. Rooting for it and expecting it are very different.

This guy was talking about crying five minutes into his presser. Doesn't exactly scream toughness as a focal point. Hard to see him standing up to Jerry and company or leading a tough-nosed team out of the locker room.

Time will tell, but the early signs aren’t promising.

If your standard is Jerry staying out of the locker room, forget it. You've already judged him a failure. Which is stupid.

I've talked up Schottenheimer since he was first brought in as a consultant. I'm a big fan of his, and think he is a great coach, but the issue isnt Schottenheimer, its why he was hired. He was brought in to keep continuity. He was brought in because the Jones's are familiar and comfortable with him. He was brought in because he knows where the lines are and where Jerry/Stephen like to be involved and is OK with that.

I get that people want to be optimistic here, and maybe in the end I'll look like a fool for ever doubting this hire, but I struggle to see any reason why things would change with this hire. He was brought in to keep the offense mostly the same. He was brought in because Jerry/Stephen are comfortable with him. Coaches have talked about the culture here for decades, but I'm not sure any of that has really improved with the exception of the Parcells years. Not to knock Eberflus, but once again we have a DC that has former Cowboy ties, and while I'm sure Schottenheimer had a say it most likely was primarily a Jerry/Stephen choice.

LOL. Yeah the "I'm a cryer" didn't make me want to run through a wall. But his dad was always crying and they'd played tough so we'll see.

He has the opportunity, the ability I'm uncertain of.
