Lets do another cool video.

What If The Earth Were Twice As Big?

The problem with Solar, IMO, is that it is now about money. If the Government really wanted people to go solar, they would figure out a way of providing it for free to everybody. Currently, Solar companies are collecting what is gathered by Solar panels and selling it back to you or to Power Companies. If you really wanted to make this work, you would set up a system where every person collected a bank of their own energy, to be used through out the course of their lifetimes. You would set up a plan to take Oil Companies and Cole Companies and any others who are in the Energy industry and diversify them into Solar so that they would not be in a position where all you were offering is bankruptcy and people out of jobs. If you really wanted to do this, it wouldn't be about money but that's all it is. Anybody in Solar is in it to make money and that goes from the Government on down. That's really the problem IMO. I think Solar is a great idea and I think that it could be a huge difference maker in every part of life but right now, it's all about money and nothing else.

Really unfortunate.

I don't think it's all about the money. Look at where the world is moving. The partial banning of the use of fossil fuels has already started with dates already set on cars in some countries. (to buy them in some, and to even use them in other countries) Electricity has to come from somewhere. Solar, hydro, and nuclear are the top non-fossil fuel options.

The only real self-sufficient option for the mass majority of home owners is solar. If they start actually laying the solar highways, then all bets are off. Solar power will become an unstoppable fright train.

The World’s Largest Radio Telescope sets to Open in China

The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) is a mega-project designed to search the cosmos for clues about our creation and whether there are any other civilizations out there.

The project began development back in March of 2011. Five and a half years later, it is finally functional. The telescope, as the name would suggest, is a monstrous 500 meters in diameter, able to achieve a zenith angle of 40 degrees. The telescope is incredibly sophisticated, developed with state of the art technology. Recently, engineers fitted the last piece on the telescope, readying it for trials.

The US 100 million dollar project was proposed by astronomers from 10 different countries who collaboratively devised a radio telescope that can scan the cosmos in greater detail than ever. The concept system was first developed in 1994 where scientists conducted experiments regarding the feasibility and functionality of the systems. A later international review conducted in 2006 determined the telescope and surrounding technology is viable and is ready for the next phase involving a detailed design.

Construction began promptly, and now, 5.5 years later the project is ready to scan the sky in extreme detail. Because of the sheer size of the telescope, special consideration had to go into the supporting technologies that would reach beyond those of any conventional structure. The size of the structure meant that deformation is inevitable. As a result, the engineers behind the project developed an adaptive cable-net system that allows compensation for small changes. Also, because the telescope is so sensitive to radio signals it was required to build it in a completely remote area shielded from radio interference. Over 7000 cables ensure that the structure will not move. On the wires lies over 4600 reflecting panels, adjustable through a complex system of actuators that were designed to minimize noise. Surrounding the entire area is a noise reduction wall on the inside of an even larger wind-wall.

A cabin looms over top of the dish which collects the data. Beneath it hangs a massive receiving dish that collects the data. The whole assembly is suspended by massive suspension cables. Six cables are used to position the cabin up over the 500m wide dish. It can be positioned to within an error range of 100mm. The assembly was designed to even withstand vibrations thanks to its dampening control systems. The cabin can be controlled in real-time which was an incredibly difficult task to achieve. Multiple lasers are used to determine the exact position including altitude and angle. Then, a computer makes adjustments to maneuver the 10-meter wide reflector to capture as much data clearly as possible.

“The project has the potential to search for more strange objects to better understand the origin of the universe and boost the global hunt for extraterrestrial life,”

Says Zheng Xiaonian, deputy head of the National Astronomical Observation.

Perhaps the technology will help further analyze the composition of the Milkyway, detecting distant pulsars, or looking for the oldest stars in existence. As the massive, 500-m wide telescope scans the night sky, maybe it will also hear the signals from other civilization. Whatever discoveries the project entails, it is sure to be magnificent. Scientists will soon begin procedures to begin debugging and testing the systems on the telescope.

Based on some of the responses to the stuck on an island and only three websites. I know a few of you might want this little invention.

This Man Built a Tile Roof Hut from Scratch

An Australian man whose name remains a mystery man with virtually no outdoor training built an entire tiled hut completely from scratch in just 2 months. The video is a little long, but I assure you, you will be mesmerized as the project evolves.

The man runs a YouTube channel called primitive technology where he, of course, builds houses and tools without using any store bought tool or any other item. In his most complex build yet, he demonstrates how to construct a tiled roof hut out of basic materials in a forest. The hut is complete with floorboard heating and a future modification will also introduce a fireplace.

The man starts out using a celt stone axe that he previously made by hand and cutting down the necessary timber. The layout was a 2×2 square meter design. After digging 6 posts into the ground and laying out a basic infrastructure, the real magic takes over. First, he designs a kiln made out of mud to harden all of his materials. Then, after collecting a heap of clay, he molds a series of rooming tiles. They are then placed in the kiln to be cured.

Severe rain put a damper on the project, setting it 36 days behind. Some unfired tiles melted away, and the hut began to retain mold before he decided to build yet another addition. A beautiful woodshed was built to house all of his work and protect it from the rain. The roof was then finished with the tiles and the construction of the walls began. Made up of just mud and stones, incredibly it held up perfectly. An underfloor heating system was added by creating a slanted tunnel covered by rocks from a pit for a fire lower down. Incredibly, it worked amazingly.

102 days later (with over a month of rain included), the project was complete. It is simply fascinating to see how such an intricate house can be made with just bear hands. It would seem the modern world is climatized to industrial production of nearly everything, and the traditional roots have nearly been forgotten. Fortunately, Primitive Technologies is making sure to document an unprecedented guide on how to build a traditional hut fixated with all the essentials. In the end, it is almost unbelievable he crafted such a magnificent design with just his bare hands and some clever ingenuity. Had I not seen the video for myself, I certainly would have called fake. However, Primitive Technologies brings humanity down to the roots where commercialism and reliance did not exist. In ancient times, it was up to build a sustainable house. Now, it is documented step by step exactly how it was done in a beautiful fashion. You can read more about the project and many others at his website: Primativetechnology.wordpress.com
