Scoring Nil

Everything about the game was embarrassing, but if it wakes everyone on this team up going into the playoffs, I'll get over it. Getting your offense shut down happens to every team once and awhile, it's just the shutout that hurts. Look what the bears did to the rams and what seattle did to minnesota just last week. Heck, this same colts team got shutout by the titans the same week the Cowboys held the saints to 10. Point is, these type of beatdowns happen, even to good teams. As long as the team responds by beating the snot out of the bucs next week, all will be forgiven.

I hope so as well with us learning from it. I just think accountability must be shown.

He has zero consistency. He’s Quincy but worse. Quincy took us to the playoffs with a much worse team.

That is possible, but I don't want to give Garrett or Linehan a top drafted QB. I think it was in October, but I compiled a list of players that Garrett destroyed as a HC, and several players extend beyond Dak. That's why I think the coaches should be sacked first. I'm far from against replacing Dak. I am all for it if we have a good replacement. However, I don't think that there is a valid one in this draft. I like Tua in 2020 for that job.

Just get someone who can consistently pass the ball and we’re golden. We don’t even need an elite QB, just one that has NFL passing talent.

I think coaching makes a difference too. We probably would be in better shape than we are now with a better QB, but I think a better coaching staff would put us where we want to be

What I think would be a good replacement for Linehan is the Chiefs' OC. A Reid-style HC/OC is what I think would solve our offensive problems.

This. And it couldn't be more simply stated or obvious. It happens over and over and over. He misses basic throws constantly. We could actually win more with several currently perceived journeyman QBs. I don't think it takes years and years of pro football coaching experience to see this either.

If putting on blinders or publicly pointing this out lumps me in with the so called hater crowd then so be it but my gosh, just call it like it is. He does not possess consistent, (extreme emphasis on the word "consistent" here) ability to make NFL throws on a week to week basis at all. He doesnt.

Again, that may be, but I don't trust Garrett or Linehan with a top QB.

Although I certainly agree with your emphasis on coaching to a certain extent, I believe that Dak could not do what Mahommes, Goff, Brees ( of course) or even Foles are doing/have done given those same coaches and circumstances. A successful Dak is totally dependent on surrounding cast. He is not an Alpha that covers up many other warts or makes others better. He absolutely has to have a Zeke like runner and a defense like this year's version in order to just be competent.

I mean nothing personal or negative toward your opinion.
Mine is that Daks extremely limited quarterback skill set would not result in massive changes even if better, innovative offensive minds were teaching him, that's all.

Good post bro.

I can certainly see that as Dak is a quintessential bus driver QB. I think a coach like Andy Reid or Bill Nagy could help elevate his game.

However, the question is, how much. I don't think that Dak is a horrible QB. However, he's certainly not great either. I think that is essentially what you are saying, and I have said that for a while. And, quite honestly, have you not noticed that Garrett is totally dependent on maintaining a full compliment of talent? Garrett is lost when the elite talent is unable to compensate for his coaching shortcomings. That is why I am most against Garrett. I think he could be okay for Cleveland, but I think that his time is finished here.

I have been saying this all season. We have to rely on long sustained drives and the more plays there are the more chances things can go wrong. We need quick strike threat and outside of Cooper making plays we don't have it.

I don't necessarily mind the plan. One reason our defense has been so good is because our offense plays keep-away. There's no telling how many points the Colts might have scored without those long drives. However, you have to have the personnel and the play-calling to capitalize on those drives or otherwise it's in vain.

We have both a personnel and play-calling issue, although I don't blame the play-calling was the reason we failed to score.

Absolutely, agree with everything you said. I want Garrett and his whole staff gone as well. But even with as stale and predictable as the coaching has been this year there is still no other bigger reason in my eyes than Daks shortcomings as to explain some of the one score nail biters during the win streak that so clearly should have been blow outs. Heck, the half-time of the Titans loss felt like it should have been 21-0, Dallas. Yesterday's 8 to 10 and more play drives with no results. His ultimate job is to score points. He touches the ball every snap and I am fully aware of all the complimentary moving pieces that are also required for success, trust me. But the fact that he so miserably fails the eye test from a QB skill set standpoint weekly will not benefit this team towards enjoying championship level success in my opinion.

Thanks for remaining civil. I enjoy good share of opinions as well.

Cheers. There's no point in getting all hostile over a difference in opinion. After all, I think we all like the team. We just see some things a bit differently, and that's what makes the forum fun. I think Dak, like a lot of Cowboys QBs, is controversial in how one sees him. I think that a lot of people forget that he's a fourth rounder, so I try to remember that and take that into account when gauging him.

I don't know if play calling was the reason, but I certainly think it's a factor.

In today's NFL with the talent that our offence has, the result yesterday should be the end of Linehan at a minimum. Dak was atrocious, but the Colts seemed like they were in our huddle all game long. I am willing to wait on sacking Garrett until the off-season, barring a collapse or a repeat of yesterday. As for Linehan, I think that he should be sacked. The play calling was embarrassingly bad, and we deserved to have a score of nil with the calling. The Vikings sacked their OC, and it worked brilliantly for them against Miami. Jerry should make an example out of Linehan to show that yesterday's match will not be tolerated.

What talent on offense are you talking about?
