Fajita will backup and push Burnett. He is a special teams stud as well. He displaces Als.

Who may not finish the day a Cowboy.

Als contingent starting to grasb the brevity of the situation.

Vet OLB traded for. With Burnett in the wings?

Maybe Nors is right! Scott even wears # 51 so jersey assignment would be no problem. :scream::scream:

For one of the very few times.......I am leaning towards agreeing with that last statement. Just leaning at this point. :)

4 hours we shall see.

I bet they pare his Salary back at the least and or cut him if not.

Its time to move on here. Fujita and Burnett are a nice fit there.

Fujita is a great pickup. He played very well as a rookie and people predicted very good things for him. I am shocked we got him for a 6th. I definitely like this signing. Welcoem to Big D Scott!

KC on Fujita:

CARL PETERSON: “I did make a trade with (Dallas Cowboys) Jerry Jones today for Scott Fujita for a draft choice in 2006 and an additional, conditional one based on Scott’s participation with the Cowboys in 2005. It’s for a 2007 draft choice.

“Let me reflect for a moment. At one time this spring we had 11 draft choices and we’re always trying to accumulate additional draft choices because it gives you a lot of flexibility in the draft to acquire players.

“Based upon that, you could say that eight of those draft choices made our football team, at least the beginning 53-man roster. The obvious is our second round draft choice was for Patrick Surtain and one of our fifth round choices was for Carlos Hall. Six of our nine draft choices have made our 53-man roster, then, at least for the opening game. I feel good about that.

DICK VERMEIL: “In regard to losing a Scott Fujita, you as media as well as the fans of Kansas City recognize we’re losing an outstanding young man, not only a real good football player. You talk about some guy fitting what we call the Chiefs profile. He’s a special human being and is going to a good organization and (Dallas coach) Bill (Parcells) is a good friend of mine and he knows how I feel about him. He’ll make a real good contribution and will fit into their new ‘30’ scheme as an outside linebacker and rush linebacker. We are happy for him. We will miss him and he is a solid person in every way: in the locker room and the field and in the community. He and his wife are super people.

His skills fit the 3-4 much better than the 4-3 also. Mike Vrabel with speed.

This is good p/u for a number of reasons. Fujita has a reputation as a smart, skilled player who can fill in a number of areas, including Special Teams. He can tackle, is very coachable, has a good health history, and, as alluded to by Vermeil, he is a character player. This is an underrated player who could contribute in a number of ways.

SF is a great addition. Seems over the past few years, whenever I checked in on the Chiefs games on DT, he's the only defender making solid plays. He'll provide us quality depth allowing us to rotate players without a dropoff in talent. He's one of those high motor players who's always flying around. Can also contribute on ST. If we can also grab their safety Woods without giving up much, we WILL be ready for a deep playoff run!

... get lost in focussing on the measureables, but this guy does have one thing that will help him in BP and Zimmer's defence.

The light is on upstairs. I wouldn't be surprised if he has an opportunity to help align a defence with his intelligence. He should also be another positive influence in the locker room.

Talk from Chiefs fans was this guy was a straight up decent guy, and the # of tackles that some so glaringly dismiss. They occurred because this guy found a way to be in the right place at the right time.

He's shown he is not afraid of contact, he's a team player, a contributor in the locker room and has intelligence both on the field and off. I don't know what else we could whine for in exchange for a 6th and a conditional 2007.

I'm sure he's giving BP a sigh of relief over his linebacking corps as we speak.

Well not to bring down the SF love fest I have a couple of concerns. Note these are not specifically dirrected to SF but rather to the KC linebackers in general.

I was reading a discussion during the season last year about why the KC run D was so bad. The intersting fact when looking at the stats is that KC wasn't really bad in TFL, pressures, and even stuffs. Where they really got slammed was in runs of 10+ yards and 5+ yards. What was happening is that the front 4 were playing fairly decent but the line backers and safeties simply couldn't tackle the ball carrier. Any time someone got past the first level he was a real risk to go far. This lead to the odd stats of having very few 2-5 yard runs relative to the rest of the league.

From this you either have to conclude it was:

A) Bad coaching and scheme
B) Bad tackling and/or positioning by the other 3 men in the box or
C) That the Line backers didn't do a good job of shedding blocks

Absent any tape on this guy, I think we should certainly be a little concerned about B and C with him until proven otherwise.

This is a stoke of genius by the Cowboys F.O. and coaching staff. He adds quality depth and veratility to an already talented defense.

I like the way things are taking shape!

But we have the one thing here that SF didn't have in KC- Bill Parcells

When BP gets a hold of a good player, (if they are coachable) he can turn them into an outstanding player (Quincy Carter/Bledsoe etc.) So he brings the physical aspect meaning size/speed/smarts, now all he needs is a technical adjustment, and a kick in the "arse" and he could be an outstaning player for us.

I'm just sick of our LB's getting swallowed up by bigger personell, so I see him slowly moving into the starting role soon.

Well we'll see... I just want to temper the Love fest... According to my boys over at Football Outsiders, KC was (I think) 6th in Deffensive Line play while 28th in in the league at stopping 10+ yard run plays.

You have to worry about guys that still haven't learned how to tackle after Pop Warner, Junior High, High School, College Ball, Training Camp, and a couple years in the NFL. It's not like there is a coach in the NFL today that doesn't understand that basic fundamental.

You just have to factor in more than what the eye can see.

I'm not saying he's going to come in here and be Ray Lewis, but if he has something in him that can allow him to be a really really productive LB, then BP will get it out of him.

Change is good for lots of players and people for that fact.

How many of us didn't perform at a certain job for whatever reason, to be transfered or move on to another location and do extremely well.

I guess I'm being a glass half full guy, since the guy did lead his team in tackles twice, he must have something.
