Scott Fujita?

Apparently, Fujita believes the 3-4 is a better fit for him since he asked the Chiefs to trade him to a place that ran that scheme. He certainy has the look and the build for this scheme. I think he'll help once he learns what he's expected to do.

Al Singleton, I believe, is a real professional though. He doesn't make a lot of plays, and I can understand why that bothers some fans. He's seldom out of position though, and he does the little things that seem to help. I don't think this is a the best fit for him, but he's making the best of it, and the team is better off because of him giving it his best shot.

6'5 250 is perfect for an MLB. we badly needed some size inside, and he on paper seems to be hte perfect fit. Hopefully he is a tough guy.

He'll be lined up at SOLB, not ILB.

I thought it would be Burnett taking over at SLB, but with the moves we've made, I guess it will be Fujita once he proves he understands and can handle the position/scheme.

Why? He started on perhaps the worst defese in the NFL last year. He could not even make the team on a much improved defese. People are putting far too much faith in Fujita. He is a guy, nothing more.

I think it's been pretty well established that he was traded because he doesn't fit with the direction KC is going. They want a smaller, faster LB corps like Derrick Johnson. Fujita is a bigger, more physical player. It's like us getting rid of coakley, he was a good player but he didn't fit the scheme Parcells wanted because he was too small. Fujita not only made tackles, he had a fair number of sacks. Having the ability to blitz the qb from either side will give us the versatility to really give opposing offensive coordinators some nightmares.

We need to do something about that middle too, because Dat was the only one making plays out there Sunday.

I'm not a big James guy, and people are consistantly blaming the outside running on Ware, when it's also the ILB's job to help on the edges.

We need Fujita and Shanle to in as well until Burnett gets back - then I would move Burnett to ILB where he can be on the field and make plays.

I don't think that's established. Dick Vermeil has never said a bad thing about any of his players, so I didn't expect him to start with Fugita.

Having said that, He played on the worst Line Backing Corp in football for the last 3 years running. I've commented more than once on his "leading" the team in tackles.

And he wasn't the best Backer they had. They decided to keep only one player at linebacker this year, the WLB, who really did out play Fugita when he was healthy.

Maybe he will do better here, but He and the rest of the KC linebackers last year were absolutely horrible and blew way too many assignments. Over 1/4 of all runs went for over 10 yards. That is dirrectly attributable to the line backers.

Maybe he'll do better in a new enviornment, but lets not kick Al to the curb just yet. At least Al plays his position.

I am hoping that the return & game shape of Fergy makes a big diff too...

Whoever is in charge of the D needs to know Dat & shanle can't rush the passer...Dat was often pancaked or too slow to get to the edges or whiffed a few times too.
Any update on Burnett's return?

This is not an if situation but a when.

Get him in there ASAP.

Parcells said in PC he wants more of a LB rotation out there.
Fujita and Shanle need more reps

I think Shanle needs to move back outside.

My wife is not as knowledgeable about football as some of the great female posters we have on this site...but I learn a lot from her unbiased, uniformed perspective.

She watches players like she ponders spending my..err...our money.

A lot of the time, she kinda watches numbers. She'll see "21" make a juke and watch him for the next 5 plays whether he gets the ball or not. I haven't figured out her system- she will watch "59" for a while and make a comment. To me it seems she just focuses on players at random (she does it for both teams).

Sunday she was focused on "51" for a while and said, that she'd been watching him for a while, like 7-8 plays in a row, and he wasn't involved in any of them. Her comment was that she thought he just hurried to the pile-up to make it look like he was "close to being in on the play"

That floored me because that is exactly how I think of Nor's buddy ALS play.

if you have a tivo of the game.

Go to a few plays where Fonuti gets to AlLARGE. He totally blew him up. We need playmakers at LB. Lets give Fujita a chance.

Fonuti is going to blow up 90% of the LBers he gets on.

Our LB crew right now is our weak link on the defense.

We need Burnett in the middle, and Fujita on the edge - we need to get our ILB's to stop getting pushed around.

I never see Ware being pushed back like our ILB's - If you watch closely, he holds his guy and stands him up, which means that the other ILB has to come right thru and tear up that RB.

But the ILB is always tied up, and shouldn't be when the play is being strung wide.

Also, the DE on the right side needs to step up - he's never anywhere to be found - we need to put Spears on the right side to line up with Ware, and keep a close close eye on Dat and James in the next 2 games or so.
