Was asked how the offense will work, who has input. He said everyone will have input on game plan. And that is normal with every NFL team. A lot of experience and very good knoweledge here, so that works great. With many NFL teams you don't always have this much knowledge. Was asked if that's like having too many cooks in the kitchen, and he said no, it's better.
Ticket guy said, well here in the metroplex you have 1.3 million OC's to give you input on how to run the offense.

Running the ball more, 32 teams say that, but some don't either the OL or the RB, here they have both, and feel it's their strength.
Can want to run the ball more, but game can dictate that as it progresses. If a defefnse is designed to stop the run, you don't game plan to pass, you still need to run the ball.

Feels the team did a great job of putting together some good talent [insert my..give the GM credit here. LOL] they have young guys, with a few old guys, well, he said they don't want to be called old, so said wiley veterens, menaing Romo & Witten. but said a team needs those guys too. They have both talent and depth now.

Dez vs. Calvin...Calvin set the standard for a NFL WR, and Dez is shooting to get there, and puts Dez in the elite category, that can take over a game.

Harris, considers him as a bonus, PR/KR but can run with the ball, they will have packages for him, and some will be a decoy even. When he's in the game, teams may focus, why is he here, they must going to get the ball to him. He can run after the catch, but the real target may be someone else.

He will operate from the sideline for now, not the booth. feels the 1 on 1 communication is important.

Was in 87 mini camp, he said, very briefly. Laughed and said don't make a big deal. Was cut, and said Tom Landry did it, as tom felt it was important he told every player.

Dunbar, having a great camp. will have packages for him too, both passing and running. Quick, fast, versatile.

run / pass balance, ticket said romo criticized for changing too much. He said, all QB's have the option to change the play. they have 2 plays, a run and a pass. Defense will dictate mostly if changed. romo not changing just because he wants to pass. Yardage gained on 1st down has much to do with it.
The best friend of a QB is a running game that is working.

Teams will be blitz-happy against Dallas to try to take Romo out. Having a great offensive line is great, but they'll have to use more max protection.

That's not the case. When you have a lot of dangerous weapons and a stout offensive lines, teams become wary of blitzing often. That's how you get beat badly on a lot of plays.

They've been weak up the middle for a long time, and it was mainly due to mental errors. They got confused easily on stunts and double A gaps. These types of things should be a thing of the past.

I'm not talking all out blitzes. Just a lot of variations form different positions. Make no mistake, torqueing Romo's back early will be priority.

Scott, is a pass happy OC, I just can't buy, he is all of a sudden, going to have more of a balanced Offense.

I liked how he said we don't have to make the check a pass play, we could give him a different running play to check into.

So simple and obvious. Why couldn't the last guy do that?

Thanks jazzcat. I never get to actually listen to these things, so a recap is great.

Glad to hear about Dunbar. Looks like he's going to make the team. I think Ryan Williams makes it too and Randle gets cut.

I agree, Williams brought in to push Randle, and if he really plays like his draft status pre injuries, he's there in case Murray gets injured again, or leaves in FA next year.

I thought every play-or at least many of them-previously had a run and a pass check. Anybody else remember hearing that? Thought it came out after the GB fiasco.

I get the feeling we'll see more of Harris and Dunbar this year.

I am willing to bet that teams will continue to blitz us a lot,its a proven method to beat us and its up to Romo and the new OC to beat the blitz.

Every time he's had an ok line a good RB, he has run the ball just fine.
Until Detroit got Bush, they didn't have a healthy bell-cow back. And most would agree that Bush is really not that either.
See 2008....Steven Jackson and his 1500+ rushing yards and 2300+ total yards in St Louis as an example of what he may do with the right assets..
I'm not saying Murray is S-Jax, but it shows the play calling was there at least.

This idea that Romo is out there changing plays just for the hell of it so he can pass it more needs to die. Its completely based on how he's been trained based on how the offense is designed and what the defense is showing. Now whether the offense adds the game condition consideration is a real issue, but from what I've understood that has to be dictated by the coach else it would be Romo doing whatever he wanted. Sorry, Friday venting!

That's how books change quickly. Once this line shows that it can pick up the blitz, and the various matches cause major issues, the blitzes will finally end.
