Hamilton only played a year of SEC ball, some at GA Military, and the final year at SC St. He's got NFL bloodlines with a brother playing RB for the Jets. He has the talent to play in the league but I don't know about the mental aspect. He can also play free safety.

I like Johnson at FS followed by Wilcox. I have no idea if either can play it well.

I don't have a problem with keeping 6 CBs but then 4 safeties makes for 10. If you keep 9 DL, 10 DB and 6 LB you are probably ok. You can add or subtract from any position on that list but I suspect 25 defensive players is about right. The last 3-4 D spots will likely be the best possible future starters and STs players as usual.

Man, I notice this phrase coming up more and more lately. NFL is becoming a eugenics experiment!

I'd take them because I've seen game tape of all of them (except for Ceasar - Just good hearsay) and thought they all played well... Challenge you to find someone who says Selvie didn't outperform all expectations last year. Hayden, yes he was less than desired, although, I do think he will do better if he's not playing 800 snaps! I watched game film of all the rookie's and am very impressed. Now to be fair, other players have looked good in college and sucked at this level but they at least have a good body of work to recommend them. They may or may not work out but at this time, I definitely think they are a long shot from street free agents.

Also .... you will note, I didn't include Hayden as being kept.

You're saying that you'll keep the group the team has over street free agents because - well, because the street free agents they had last year did well or contributed significantly.

As I said, it doesn't matter if the team keeps an extra DL or not. Anyone they pull off the street is likely going to be no worse than what they would have kept anyway.

They'll probably be able to pull one of the guys on your list if they want.

DL-Can go shorter here because Spencer will be on PUP.
The list is rather deep right now but will shorten once injuries hit.

1. Lawrence
2. Crawford
3. Melton
4. McClain
5. Mincey
6. Selvie
7. Hayden
8. Bass

Spencer PUP

7/8 could be unseated by good camps from others.
You'd like one of the UDFA guys to make our PS.

After all the injuries to the line last year, I guess I'm just really paranoid about not having a decent DL rotation as the season goes on.

Right but I think we simply just lacked talent as opposed to not having enough guys. When Spencer, Ratliff, Crawford and Bass went out that was pretty much the end of the season there. You can't compensate for all those guys being hurt. When you face that many injuries you have to bargain shop.

Johnson was always a pet of Mines

Rooting for both though

You don't go short because of Spencer, IMO.

I think the team needs to plan as though he's done and if the time comes where he can plan you free space then.
