Early observations from camp

Point out that, we need Melton 100% and healthy this year very badly. Crawford , Selvie and D- law Has to emerge some how to give a sense of average pass rush , secondary has to play better than average , in order for the Defense to improve overall this year.

The 2014 season will go how the defense go, that's not in doubt . Of course meaning the offense plays better later in the game and does hold on to the ball (run to finish )

I know it's early and only a few practices in pads. But this is what, Parnell's 3rd year to try to unseat Free. and he hasn't done it yet. maybe he will this year. But seems that people are also high on Weems to push for that too. So what does this say about Parnell.
Should be an interesting battle. Right now, i'm still going with Free to win it.

I'm ready to see the OL and DL in a preseason game. Often the practice drills can be misleading because they are tweaking techniques and depending on the specfic drill either the OL or DL can have an advantage that they don't have in games.

Yes, I'm ready too. Also, the drills aren't always, if ever at true speed or gets to the true in game contact and hitting.

I was so-so until he was interviewed and suggested he was a rookie and thought it was his job to learn how to play in the NFL.

I believe it was a Hitzges interview. Sounded like he was well grounded.

That fits with what Dooley was saying about his predraft visit.

Plus the DL don't have to worry about splits. That is a huge advantage for the DL.

Yeah, you can't take it totally to heart but some things you can notice for review later.

Which means OT will be a huge need for the Cowboys with the two backups struggling. You'd have Tyron and nothing. Unless you want to move Martin outside but I think ideally you want to keep him at G.

I think he lacks the explosiveness to be anything more than a 4 or 5 in the league.

I recall you told me that before.

He and Irvin are almost identical with 40 times. I'm not suggesting anything but speed is great but not the final arbiter of an NFL player.

Guys that run impeccable routes get open without explosiveness. Just ask Witten. Not that Street's going to be in that class. But I think he should end up a capable WR3.

I try to avoid having pet cats also. That being said, I am really hoping that Ahmad Dixon steps up and becomes what we once hoped for in Matt Johnson.
