I am familiar with how every year we all get pumped over guys who never make it to the FA market.

Shaun Alexander is a product of probably the best O Line in Football right now. Maybe KC has a case that their OL is better, but besids them, I dont thinkanoyne has the type of players Seattle does. Alexander doesn't run for tough yards, all his stuff is off tackle, and i totally agree with you here.

I dont know how he got the MVP award, granted he got 28 TD's, but every game I see him play, he seems to fail to show up. The guy was autrocious throughout the playoffs. Absolutely pathetic.

I agree with you, but we'll see how good Alexander is when he signs with another team this year. I think the Seahawks will resign Hutchinson and let Alexander go. Maybe he will still get his yards with another team.

Im not saying that well sign him. Im just saying he is more than likely to be a free agent. No way does Benson shell out $7million for him and pay whoever he gets out of the Leinert/Bush/Young sweepstakes.

I feel you when the sheep around here start salivating over some FA year after year BUT all signs point to him being available.

Benson is cheap. He allowed the Dome Patrol to fall apart for FA and I really just dont see him paying the number 2 pick and Bentley.

Football is a perfect sport to say the Stats lie. Alexander may have put up monstrous numbers this season, and in fact, he's been doing it for the last couple yeras, but I refuse to put him in a category of the back I'd want to build a franchise around.

He had a nice game against Carolina, Ill give him that. He just runs with a certain softness on most occations. I dont know what it is. Just dont like him as a back

They Franchised Howard last year and payed him 7 million just for his trade rights, because they didn't really need him with Will Smith and Charles Grant. Who couldn't use a pro bowl interior lineman in his prime. If they don't franchise him, Sean Payton should have never taken that job because they have no interest in winning whatsoever.

The Saints had no problem putting the franchise on Howard when they had Will Smith and Charles Grant. They sure seemed to have enough money to do that. They have nothing behind Bentley who plays probably the 2nd most important position on the O-Line. He is dominant and 26. Plus they are talking about drafting a QB and no free agents will want to go to New Orleans now so you can't just go out and replace him. That all adds up to him being franchised ASAP. Any scenario with us adding him this offseason is an absolute pipedream.

I'm interested in where you get this info -- I can't find any evidence of it -- not that I'm saying it isn't true -- just that I can't find any info.

If there was a "bailout" I would imagine it had more to do with lost revenues -- because the team had no home field, no facilities, etc. than with Benson being broke.

Nor do I think the league is going to allow Katrina revenue losses to impact the Saints ability to be competitive -- that is -- Benson is going to get as much cash as he needs to not take any loss on this .
