And still not close to stopping the run. Until that changes nothing will. Downs was bad last night. Not Bland bad but disapointing 11th pick in the draft bad. Ronnie Lott? Ed Reed? Not quite.

The irony is the two recent dline picks they actually hit on (Parsons and Odighizuwa) they rationalized getting rid of in order to emphasize stopping the run.

but how much of Bad Downs is due to Bad CP?

a lot, but thats not talked about. you compare recent draft picks to draft picks of yesteryear and ONLY the elites.

he didnt have a pick return hes a bum

Downs and Barham are the real deal. It's a quantum leap from college to the Pros, even if you play for one of the top programs in the country. Imagine going to the NFL and finding the coaching to be below the standard of what you had at college.

You don't know how much I appreciate this.
I have been consistently saying the core of the defensive dysfunction is because no one in Jerry's think tank war room can evaluate defensive players.
Does McClay do decently with offensive picks?
Yeah, pretty much.

BUT when it comes to defense the poor choices date back for many years.
So whatever defensive coordinator you throw out there he faces a try to make chicken salad out of chicken **** job description.

There's no edges. One linebacker and one corner, ie Porter(thats IF they re sign him)

Whatever **** the we should be doing better because we're so talented crowd is watching, they need to seriously re-evaluate "their guys".
Cuz it ain't scheme or coaching.
They just suck.
Regardless of scheme or coach.

The drafting of defensive players has been woeful at best. So awful that you have to believe that the coaches abilities to develop that talent has also been sorely lacking.
