Scouting department disaster

Just enact a law that we never draft DLs from Michigan.

12 players are still in the NFL: DeMarvion Overshown, Marist Liufau, Caelen Carson, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Shavon Revel Jr., Shemar James, Caleb Downs, Malachi Lawrence, Jaishawn Barham, Devin Moore, LT Overton and Mazi Smith.
To be fair, all of them are still on rookie deals. that certainly helps a player hang around.

The drafting of defensive players has been woeful at best. So awful that you have to believe that the coaches abilities to develop that talent has also been sorely lacking.
How about the O-LINE. How many 1st Rounders are there? LOL - and look how thats turned out too.

Should have stolen Howie Roseman from Philly, long ago. It's telling.......the scouting and player evaluation is terrible.

How about other teams around the NFL, how did they do?
Just as a comparison. to possibly show Dallas did not do as well as most teams. Because they have had bad picks.

6 of those were 6th and 7th round picks, and a few 5th round picks. Give the past 2 years a few more years to say they are busts.

Did you see the high percentage of players still in the league?

And his respect around the league hasn't gone down.

If Jerry fired him, multiple teams would be after him.
Still in the league as backups and other teams practice squad? The defensive drafting over the last 5+ years has been horrific.

And still not close to stopping the run. Until that changes nothing will. Downs was bad last night. Not Bland bad but disapointing 11th pick in the draft bad. Ronnie Lott? Ed Reed? Not quite.
Yet in typical CowboysZone fashion he was being fitted with his HOF jacket within 24 hours after being drafted.

THIS. DOUBLE AND TRIPLE LIKES TO INFINITY AND BEYOND.

This is the absolute primary reason for the defensive failure for however many years you want to research it.

Get somebody who knows how to properly evaluate defensive players and the turnaround will be blatantly obvious and fast.

The current defensive scout team is not the answer.
Nor are the current defensive players with the exception of 3, possibly 4 if they re-sign Porter.

That's it.

Palomalu had on 48 tackles his rookie season.

The fact that you don't ever hear any other scout's name besides McClay who i guess is in charge is very disturbing. Guess they don't have much input in picking and choosing future Cowboys, imagine that. I am shocked, shocked I tellya....:lmao:

When you essentially sit out of free agency for 4-5 year stretches, you have to hit more in the draft relative to other teams.

They have drafted and developed offensive talent very well. Guyton had us worried at first, but he has turned into a great LT. I think that stems from having some continuity on the offensive coaching staff. However, the defensive side has been a dumpster fire. Drafting, developing talent and quality coaches has been a complete failure that should lead to a GM getting fired.
