Since this guy is tearing up camp, I thought I would post the following. The catch is: he was always injured in college. Hope this changes:

NFP's Wes Bunting on Alex Albright:
"A long, lean defensive end prospect who plays with a great motor and will chase the ball down consistently until the whistle. Lacks power at the point of attack vs. the run and is routinely sealed/driven from the play. However, knows how to be violent with his hands and work himself free through contact. Nevertheless, most of his tackles take place five-plus yards down the field.

Lacks the kind of first step to threaten the edge as a pass rusher, but does do a nice job generating some power on his punch and dropping his pad level as a bull rusher. Works hard to fight his way off contact, but lacks the kind of natural strength to be a consistent threat as a pass rusher even at the college level.

Impression: A hard-working defensive end prospect who simply doesn't offer the burst or power to be real effective in either the run or pass game at the next level."

Draft InSider on Alex Albright:
"Bio: Three-year starter named team captain as a senior. Totals last year included 30/9/3.5, when he also intercepted one pass and broke up three more. Junior numbers included 32 tackles. Posted career numbers of 38/10/8.5 as a true freshman in 2007. Missed the 2008 campaign with an injury.

Positive: Competitive lineman with limited upside for the next level. Plays with good lean, gets leverage on opponents, and works his hands throughout the action. Displays a good head for the ball, slides down the line to make plays, and relentless in pursuit of the action. Occasionally stood up over tackle or tight end and displays effective pass rushing skills.

Negative: Possesses a minimal burst. Small and struggles getting off blocks once engaged at the point of attack.

Analysis: Albright is an undersized college defensive end who gets the most from his skills and plays hard until the whistle blows. He's an average athlete yet his approach on the field could help him catch on as a pass rush specialist/special teams player."

Consensus Draft's Steve Martin on Alex Albright:
"Overview: Alex is a 2006 graduate of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati where he earned Associated Press All-State first-team honors as a senior defensive end. He also was named Greater Catholic League South Player of the Year after leading his team to the 2005 Division I state title. Alex was also a 2005 All-Southwest Ohio first-team selection after registering 83 tackles, including 12 sacks, in his senior season. He also made one reception for 15 yards and scored one touchdown. He was chosen to play in the Ohio North-South Classic in Columbus Crew Stadium on June 17, 2006. Alex also starred on St. Xavier's basketball team.

2010- Played in just 7 games again with 25 tackles, 9 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, an interception, 2 PBUs and a QBH.

2009- Started seven games for the Eagles. Had 32 tackles (20 solo), 8 TFL, one sack, and a fumble recovery.

2008- Had four tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery in two games in 2008. However, he didn't play after that because of a season-ending neck injury.

2007- Earned an All-ACC honorable mention. Despite missing the first two games of the season, he tallied 38 tackles (22 solos, 16 assists), a team-high 8.5 sacks for 57 yards, 10 tackles-for-loss (second on the team), a quarterback hurry and two forced fumbles.

2006- Played in all 13 games as a true freshman. Even started the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Totaled 20 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 3 FRs.

Strengths: Nice body length and overall athleticism. Room to grow. Just scratched the surface of his potential in college due to an assortment of injuries. Relentless power rusher with explosive hands. Played 4-3 DE in college, but may be tried elsewhere at the next level. Has a lot of intangibles if he can stay healthy. Gets up and bats balls, makes interceptions, and is alert in all phases. If he can add 20 pounds of muslce his best bet may to stay at weakside 4-3 DE.

Weaknesses: Snake bit, and can never seem to stay healthy. Could part of it be that he plays with such reckless abandon? Will a 245-power rusher ever hold up at the next level? As you can see, there are more questions than answers with Albright, although the talent is there. Needs to learn to protect his legs. Must learn to rely on speed and athleticism more, and less on his strength. Might be looked at as an OLB.

Projection: 6-7th rounder who would have been projected much higher had he stayed healthy in college and put up the kind of numbers he is capable of putting up."

245 DE is small. However we are not in the 4-3 and he is not playing DE in Dallas he is listed as OLB. I think the odds are against him but could find a spot on the PS

interesting info, thanks.hopefully he can stay healthy @ OLB.

Maybe he's the kind of guy you stash on the practice squad for a year while Woicik gets his strength and bulk up.

Butler was of similar weight when he joined the Cowboys and he produced in his limited time on the field. If he has skills then you find a way to keep him on the roster.

All the reports say his skills are limited. Sure hearing alot about him through camp.

He is using 100% of his limited skills.

Hustle goes a long way with coaches.

Exactly... and I bet you see this happen...

Ryan and Eberflus seem to think he's really producing. But I've heard this training camp praise tactic before.

Sorry, forgot to mention, Albright is from Boston College.

Maybe there's some Flutie, Hail Mary, in him ...

Those eastern schools can't ever really keep up with the SEC, Big 12 etc. football mills. But they do provide some great players to the NFL. ... And colleges like UConn are always trouble for whoever wants to play them ... not to mention Penn State etc. ...

This guy reminds me of a younger Zach Thomas, a high motor guy that had heart, and a nose for the football while the scouts doubted him, he merely proved all the scouting reports wrong.

I don't think I've ever heard that description before...lol

But on a more serious note...the last assessment seems to be the most accurate based on what we've seen from him thus far. If he can stay healthy we just might have found a real player in this guy. I'll be watching for him in the preseason games for sure.
