I don't get the Jernigan ranking.

Will Lamarcus Joyner be more than a nickel CB?

Some pundits believe he can play safety, I don't know if he's big enough for that though he reminds me of the honey badger with his play.

Its the National Championship buzz for those Florida St. boys. These guys are rated higher on "experts" boards because of that. NFL personnel folks have them rated what they really are. Jernigan is overrated.

Morgan Moses is a 3rd rounder according to a lot of people. And Antonio Richardson is a 1st rounder according to many. Both are probably more so early-to-mid 2nd rounders.

Is this value or draft day picks? I have seen Jerrigan in the top five for value several times rarely in the top 20 from most draft lists. Top five off top of head value/talent J Clowney, S Watkins, J Matthews, Manziel/M Lee/T Jerrigan. IMO.

A lot of that is based on early rankings. The process starts with the media draft analysts throwing out some rankings. Then, they get feedback from the Pros such as the feedback that they got at the Senior Bowl and then throw out some new rankings. Each time they throw out some new rankings, they get feedback from some Pro scouts and then repeat the cycle.

Moses as a 3rd and Richardson as a 1st were early guesses by the media analysts.

I don't quite understand Jernigan being at #5 by anyone, but I do understand why people like him. Although he's not a perfect fit for our scheme, he's a strong-bodied guy who tough to move, and he's plus athleticism in comparison to that stoutness. He's basically a combo 1/3 (very much like Floyd last year). Stronger than a typical 3T, more explosive up the field than your typical 1T. So he's got that versatility and he's also just 20 years old.

Top 5? Not for me. But the level of anti-Jernigan on this board is a bit much IMO.

I think with Jernigan the question should be - for the cowboys, is he enough of a quick twitch player to be the 3-tech ? Or is he big enough and has just enough quick twitch to play the 1-tech ? As our new DC supposedly likes them to be ...
Not overly huge and can get up the field, he's what, about 305 -310 or so.

He isn't quick twitch enough to be a 3T in this scheme IMO. Or better said, he may have acceptable quickness for it, but not enough to use the 16th overall pick on.

On the flip side, he's probably a perfect 1T for us. He's got the requisite size/power but plus quickness for that position. Problem is we don't value the 1T enough to use the 1st round pick on. It's a replica of the Floyd situation to me. Good player and would help us, but doesn't fit enough and we don't prioritize where he fits enough for him to be our guy that high.

Morgan Moses can play any position on the OL except C. He played RT, RG and LT at Virginia. He's got great movement skills. Think: Bigger, more polished Kyle Long, though I think he lacks Long's nastyness. Moses is a better player than Justin Pugh. What that means about his draft stock, I dunno.

Moses will probably play RT for most teams, but he'd make a heck of a guard in a zone system like we have in Dallas.

Well, if you remember....Justin Pugh couldn't play in the league. His arms were too short and stuff. Somebody needs to remind him of that as he continues to put together a nice pro career.

As an fsu fan, I disagree on joyner. That guy has been playing balls to the wall the last two seasons, and has been the primary playmaker on defense the last two years. He was and should be a first round prospect. Jernigan is a top 20 pick. Top 5? I don't know about that. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

And some people had Chance Warmack listed as the best player in the draft, lol.

Chance Warmack's a beast. I'd love to have him in Dallas.

Along with Larry Warford.

Feel free to copy off my paper when the subject's OL.

If I remember correctly, you liked Frederick at C too.

You have some nice hits on the OL in recent seasons.
