  • It wasn't the best few days of practice for Dak Prescott coming off the big game against the Los Angeles Rams. I will be interested to see how he plays this week while working with the backup offensive personnel group. I believe we will find out a great deal about him as a quarterback during this game.
  • With Anthony Brown missing time with a sore hamstring, Jeremiah McKinnon has taken his spot in the nickel playing the slot. I do like what I have seen from McKinnon up to this point. His technique has improved where there is far less grabbing and holding while he is in coverage. He is likely going to be one of the many young defensive players that will be in there the entire game.
  • It's another opportunity for Chaz Green to show these coaches that he is better than what he showed last time out. Green has been getting work the majority of these practices at left tackle while Tyron Smith has been dealing with a stinger. Green knows he is likely going to play the entire game so mentally he understands what to expect. There are things that he improved technique-wise that should help as well. Just a feeling but I expect him to have a better game against the Dolphins than what he had against the Rams

Bryan Broaddus: I was hanging around the defensive line during practice observing Rod Marinelli and Leon Lett putting their guys through the drills. The line was working on coming off the ball and quickly getting up the field, which is a staple of Marinelli's scheme. As the group was rolling through, Jason Garrett joined the drill and begin to encourage the players to stay lower. Garrett even stopped the drill and asked Marinelli if you can see the numbers -- is that a bad thing? Marinelli replied it was. Garrett didn't stop there. He then got on rookieRodney Coe by telling him that he was tired of seeing his numbers and to work harder to keep them down. Garrett is completely right about Coe. His biggest issue is that he plays too high and that hurts his ability to rush the passer and defend the run.

David Helman: Dak Prescott struggled on Tuesday -- his first setback since he lit the league on fire in last week’s preseason game against the Rams. He overthrew several balls, he miscommunicated with a couple receivers. Most notably, he threw an interception on a badly-thrown fade and cost the second-team offense a shot at a touchdown. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett would never admit it on the record, but I bet he’s pleased to see the rookie eat a slice of humble pie. Prescott had been on an upward trajectory for the last week or so. He strung together several good practices, and he obviously caught everyone’s attention with a great performance in the preseason opener. He was starting to make it look easy. But playing quarterback in the NFL isn’t easy, and Tuesday served as a timely reminder. Knowing what we know about Prescott’s mindset, I’m confident he’ll bounce back and raise his level of play once again. But it was good to remember that Prescott still has plenty of work to do.

Hopefully Chaz Green shows a big improvement this week. Heck even just any improvement will do. It still shows some progress. Get him some confidence to build on.

Chaz was good in the first half. I think he wore down in the second half and got sloppy. He isn't good enough to beat out Free but I expect a better showing this week. He needs to get in shape big time
