ARLINGTON, Texas – There’s a lot to digest from that game – even more than usual, in my opinion.

As always, I’ll know more when I’ve had a chance to watch the tape. But here are my primary impressions from having watched that 35-31 loss to Green Bay.

Read

Tremendous job by Dak Prescott of keeping his eyes down the field on the long completion to Brice Butler to open this game. Prescott was looking in the direct of Dez Bryant and then quickly came back to Ezekiel Elliott. Instead of taking the easy throw to Elliott, he somehow managed to see Butler running through the middle of the field with separation on Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix. Prescott, with Nick Perry hanging on his legs, got just enough on the ball to allow Butler to come back to it for a big first down to keep the opening drive going.

It's bad when the team staff writers are calling out the play calling.
Every single person watching that game yesterday knew what Rodgers would do with that amount of time, against a prevent defense that is severely lacking in talent.

Shameful that our coaching staff put those guys out there again against the packer offense

Should they have been in a three man front?

And yet, if one of two players takes a slightly different angle GB was attempting a 50+ yard FG to tie.

We had our chance to stop them and missed.

your right I couldn't believe the coaching staff didn't run on the field and show em how , just threw em under the bus.

well they were gonna pull fans out of the stands and put them out there, but insurance regulations and trying to find uniforms that would fit was just too big a hassle.

who were they supposed to send out? yes the defense needs work. like frame off restoration type work. but if it's what we have, dak was right when he said you take the score when you can and the guys on defense get a paycheck also, they need to stop them.

we just need better guys to pay.

Whenever I read Broaddus' articles I hear his voice...and that's not a good thing.

The last point about throwing it at the goal line with 1:24 is spot-on and yet case no. 3,254 of why Garrett is an absolute charlatan of a head coach. How many times has he blundered time management.

I've said it for years that while he may have an Ivy League education, his football smarts are remedial.

Defense needs work? That senile old git has had years to implement this outdated simple to beat scheme and it's failed at every turn
HE needs canning....

T-Will's drop pick 6 was the difference maker imo.

Scandrick had a shot at a pick 6 off that slot blitz, but he dropped it and im sure Cowboys Nation just shrugged as what else would we expect Scandrick to do.

He's an excellent player and has had a fabulous career but he's not a playmaker, lol.

There's a lot of coaches and execs that are living well off the greatness that is Aaron Rodgers. That team has a ton of issues and #12 covers it up. It was an exciting game and losing at home is always a disappointment (as I think DC is good) but I'm not really pissed about losing to Rodgers. He is just an unbelievable QB, and there's no shame in losing to Tiger/Jordan/Phelps/Federer...

Jaylon Smith doesn't need to be playing LB right now. He is a massive liability in coverage and the against the run. Not sure if Durant isn't fit enough to play the entire game but I can't overstate enough the upgrade in play we will see when Lee takes over for Smith.

Dak was great

The OL is playing well but it seems like we have too many mistakes and its not just Cooper out there. One play Frederick has a hold, or Martin gets beat, Tyron can't seal Matthews, Collins gets beat, all of these guys are consistently playing very well too many times one of them gets beat and it screws up the entire play.

Mayowa ducked his head and speared on the UR call that got GB off the 2 yard line. Stupid and unsafe play that no player should ever do. Mayowa can break his neck by ducking his head like that let alone hurt his team.

I thought Zeke was a stud

DC receivers beat up on that horrid GB secondary but they made more plays than our guys did thanks to T-Will's hands of stone

Blake Martinez some great plays out there

  • I hate to be critical because I’ve never coached a down of football in the NFL. But I just don’t understand the purpose of throwing ball to Dez Bryant on the goal line with 1:24 left in the game? As a staff, you’ve managed the game perfectly to kill as much time off the clock as you could to not leave Aaron Rodgers any time to mount a comeback. Short passes and timely running gave you a chance to win the game by keeping Rodgers off the field. If you hand the ball to Elliott, he is going right between Frederick and Martin for the first down. You get a fresh set of downs and the Packers have to use their final timeout. At worst, you’re on the Packers’ 8-yard line now with the chance to take more time off the clock and attempt the same play you scored on or throw the ball later to Bryant. Dak Prescott said after the game that it’s a slippery slope to play that way, but knowing Aaron Rodgers was on the other sideline, it’s a chance I take.
The best point of the entire thing. Kudos to a guy on the company payroll for calling out clear football stupidity.

These coaches don't help their players succeed. They hold them back.
