Lewis Neal managed a quick swim move around Byron Bell to force Cooper Rush to have to unload the ball. Rush was trying to bootleg to his right from the shadow of his own goal post, but he had to deal with Neal right off the snap. Rush had no choice but throw the ball away or take the safety and he wisely got rid of the ball.

  • With all the questions surrounding the left guard spot, keep an eye on Joe Looney. I believe that Jonathan Cooper will be the opening day starter against the New York Giants, but Looney will likely be called in if Cooper struggles. During the practice, Looney played both guard spots along with some center. Looney might not have the athletic ability of Chaz Green or the power of Jonathan Cooper, but he doesn't make mental mistakes and he finds ways to finish his blocks.

Looney getting serious time at LG during the regular season is a scary thought IMO.

The extremely little I've seen of Switzer has me salivating a bit. He could end up being better than our Tiny Viking and, IMO, that's high praise.

It's a little distressing that nobody has been able to nail down that LG spot. I always thought that the guard position was supposed to be the easiest one fill on the OL.

Unless Cooper has a strong season, we will be looking at guard in this Spring's draft, rounds 2-3.

Broaddus has been so down on Cooper. I wouldn't take him very seriously. He didn't think he would win the job and he apparently has. Now he is trying to hedge by saying, well he won the job, but just for now...

We're not going to want to add more resources to the line after signing Martin.

Cooper has looked good-solid in game and practice from what I've seen. I don't think there is any question he is the best option and the starter going into the season. Looney isn't a bad back-up, but that's a mighty big drop off.
