Trade Zach, then use a pick to replace him
We have actually put together a fairly good defense but we still need a few part
Dlaw is one of the top edge rushers
Irving has the talent to be an elite inside rush
We need LB help, I think a one tech and a center fielder type safety
If we could add those we have the makings of a good defense

Just because people have different ideas on how to fix the team, or even just fix the defense, DOESN'T mean they're content with losing! That's absurd.

If we land difference makers at LB and DT, we'll be a top 10 defense. Our OL will be top 5 in 2018.

The stupidity on this board knows no bounds. Do you have any idea how many games we have won because our "overrated" OLINE had the other teams defense so defeated and tired by the 3rd quarter they could hardly even play? How many games we won that we shouldn't have because that overrated line parted the red sea for Murray or Zeke to go for 20+ yards and touchdowns. Go watch the Pittsburgh game from 2016 and see how our overrated OLINE won that game for us by completely washing out the entire defensive line and giving Elliott nothing but green grass. You sir don't know what the heck you are talking about.

I agree the defense is the real key
I would love to do what we did last year with the secondary to the front 7
To do that though you have to be in a position to use most of your picks there
To do that you don’t want to have to draft another WR. I think we have to draft a guard which would lower your pay out to the oline
My wish list would be a big one tech and a couple of LB and maybe an edge guy thrown in
But to do that we need the roster to be set on offense and not add more needs there. We already have a need at guard there

IMO the key to the defense isn't the 2018 draft but the 2017 draft. You saw massive improvement from DLaw and Irving last year, next year you won't have breakout seasons from the 2017 draftees but you could get very solid starters out of Taco Charlton, Awuzie, Lewis, and Xavier Woods. Jaylon Smith should improve with better health and Byron Jones should be improved playing CB.

Add in another wave of draft picks at LB, 1T and Safety and you could have a solid group with the depth that Marinelli likes.

Yeah. You can get very good LBs in the second or 3rd. Not many dominant DTS last past the top 10.

Agreed. You can have All Pro talent and spend ALL the money at every position on the OL and it still doesn't guarantee anything. Teams can put 8 in the box or start bringing blitzes and that great OL gets neutralized. If we are going to overspend for premium players at every position, make sure it's on the DL.

You want to pay Martin, La'el, draft another 1st round LG...fine. Aaron Rodgers will just be smiling as he easily torches that defense in the playoffs again while that Great Wall Offensive Line can do nothing but sit on the bench and watch.
